Since most of the wheel colors I've seen are either Black or Red, I thought I would try something different. The bare metal looks good but the blue would rock with my white walls. I'm also looking at some other shades of blue.

If i keep the bare metal look I'm going to use Gibbs to prevent rust.

Opinions would rock :) Please excuse the rotten Bel Air

The blue would look sick up against some white walls as long as the car was the right shade, bare metal on anything is going to look wicked

So darned bright in person in the sunshine that some reds are embarr***ed....

    54 Bel Air 2dr Coupe

The car had 4 different wheels and three flat tires. Getting some steelies and white walls was one of the first things one the checklist.

I agree Eric! Flat white with a blue top wouldn't look bad with the blue steelies, but then again bare metal body or the "stock" patina with the bare metal steelies would look good too.

C9 thanks for the pics, white walls would probably look killer on those.

I'd go a little darker blue. A friend has a black 32 Chevy roadster - looks great with blue wheels, chrome caps and blackwalls.

Honestly, I would go with the paint, otherwise they will look like you shot them with rattle can silver until you looked at them up close.

Colored wheels always make the white walls look better.

I was thinking a little darker too, but I don't know if I'm going to do chrome caps, blackwalls are our for sure.

If I go the darker blue route, I may try some black primer with the current blue I have and it may work since the current one was just sprayed over the white

IMO white walls and blue flow well.

All PC monitors may show a different shade... But I really like that shade of blue on that pirate truck.

Color, yeah. That shade of blue? I don't know. Dark burgundy or a nice charcoal grey metallic cleared and slick. "Dirty" white. ANY Kandy color. Wheels are easy and pop big in kandy colors. Why that blue?

The car was white and even with the Patina it still has some hints on the panels of white (see above) I'm thinking of going a flat white on the car or leave it as is with the white spots which will bring out that shade of blue with the white walls.

    Thanks,
I used a 4" paint & rust stripper round wire brush that adapts to any drill. A 5" would be better if you can find one since I barely got in the groves.

I'm probably going to go through two of them for the 4 wheels but at $6 a piece it's well worth it compared to using chemical paint remover.

  20. Fwiw, I tried some narrow whites on the 32 with slot mags.

Looked ok, wide WW's may have looked better, but I don't think the narrow whites would have looked any better on the blue steelies than the blackwalls do.
    5" & 6" wide 15's fwiw.

Probably gonna put a set of 49-50 Ford beauty rings on the 31 once it's up and running.

I usually throw the wheels on the rear axle and let it idle in gear. Then I have at it with the wire brushes, sandpaper, and scotchbrite...

That's clean :) The grey on the body works well with the black walls.

I always wondered what wheels would look like...blued...like, as in GUN BARREL CHARCOAL BLUE, not the common dark grayish blue...

...only thing is, they wouldn't stay blue very long unless someone oiled them twice daily. Beer will remove the finish, so if a drunk pees on your rims in the dark at a host hotel, you'd have PBR tie dye going on.

Rumor has it that in time the former blue turns a nice gray patina:D

I think it would look downright purty though.

Very Cool, I probably won't rock the hubs but that personal preference.

That's more of an anodized blue, very cool. I totally like it. This company does similar wacky colors.
