Hey guys I need some help. This is sort of historic auto related so maybe ya'll can help. I am trying to find a book my grandpa used to read to me as a kid about this boy named Charlie who goes on a big summer vaction with a family that is friends of his parents. They go from the midwest kinda along route 66 and then up the west coast and back to the midwest. It was filled with tales of all the old roadside attractions. The book is written as his journal entries. I think the book was from the 50s or 60s and was something like Charlie's Summer Vaction or Charlie's Great Adventure. Anybody else remember this book and know the title. I am wanting to try and find a copy to read to my son but can't remember the actual title.

I don't know what it is but you can try books.google.com. Type in what you think the title could have been and see what comes up.

I've tried that site and amazon with no luck. This book has probably been out of print for 30+ years which makes it a little harder. I even tried going by a local used bookstore and the library with no results.

I don't know if it will help, but try half.com also, they have books in or out of print available. Failing that try finding a large bookstore near you (NOT Barnes & Noble or Borders) that is independent, you'd be suprised at what some of those clerks in small stores have stored in their heads:D

www.powells.com is the largest used book store in the world.
Call and ask for the person who handles the children's section.
    Good luck!

Abebooks.com has several copies of "Charlie's Great Adventure" as well as some by the same author with a combination of that title and various others. The also have a copy (by a different author) of "Charlie's Summer Vacation". Go to the site and type in the titles.
