LET ME SEE:Pictures of "FENDERLESS" Chevy Rods

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by paulweldit, Jun 16, 2009.

  1. I am building a 30 Chev sedan, and it is all original chevy stuff including the suspension, just modified. The parallel leafs where combined together and cut to make a transverse, the front axle was from an early 50's chevy pickup with batwings tig welded, and radius rods. No Ford shit here! It was definently not the easy way, but is still all chevy. Even running 34 chevy pickup wheels. (6 lug with original caps)Wellllllll except for the radiator, because I couldn't find a chevy one that was small enough to fit between the axle and top of the hood. 66 289 mustang fits perfect.

Miss-B-Haven, that sedan is definitely a cool car. Love the stance and the chop! I especially like how the wheel base is not exaggerated. You kept it as short as possible without sacrificing interior room. Thats what gives the car such great proportions.

chevys are a nice change when your used to seeing fords everywhere, still love those blue ovals though.

  5. THANK YOU! It has been a fun build. The chop is 6.5 inches, and the channel is 3, and I still have plenty of room for a 6 foot plus person to ride in the back seat.

  6. Mis-be-haven, outstaning Ride !! like Jeffery said the proportions are great ! i just love copped sedans and your is chopped just right. How about a front shot and some close-ups of the front end set-up. Sounds interesting. Thanks for posting it.

Well I can't pass on a chance to post mine again. These pics are from last Sunday, I smoked the tranny while doing some tuning and chassis adjusting, the second time I have actually driven it. Thats what I get for 50 bones I guess. These pics are where it rolled to a stop and I was waiting for my wife to get back with a come a long.

What have you guys used as patch panels for the lowers around your cars? Just curious if someone is making them. I made one from a fender, and stretched a Model A quarter patch for the other.

Wow cool as hell has to be one of the best looking cars posted here so far.
Rear of the car is right on not like the ones with the ass lower then the tires.

  21. I'm coming into this chat a little late, just found it.
Doing a 31 fenderless roadster. I thought a 7" dropped axle would get it where I wanted it, but I'm running into scrub line issues with the semi eliptics. Was ready to order a spring over cross set up, but saw a setup with parallels that might work. The mounts were welded to the bottom of the axle which sits on top of the springs and the U bolts just go throgh the mounts, not over the axle giving more room above and below the axle. I'm trying to get around 11-12" at the top of the frame.
    Any feed back?
Also looking at using 68 Mustang steering box.
