I would like to say Happy Father's Day to all the dads. Your kids are watching you.

I, like many of you, had the greatest dad in the world. We only had 12 years together before he died, but I learned a lot from him.

    I learned about cool cars...

    I learned table manners...

    He taught me about vacations...

    I learned about fashion...

He taught me to wearing a helmet...

    I learned about hunting...

I learned to cry if your race car is not set up right...

I learned the pitfalls of product endor*****ts...

I learned he was an International *******...
Daytona International Speedway ******* that is, when he took me in 1968.

    He taught me about fishing...

I learned not to hit a horse on the highway...

He taught me about dirt tracking on a Saturday night...

He showed me how to make life long friends...

How cool, loved your post and with pictures as well.

Happy Father's Day to every father out there, wish mine was still here.

<O:p</O:pMy father instilled in me a love of cars from the 1st car I can remember him driving which was a Hudson Hornet, then the white '55 Caddy convertible with red leather interior, the Triumph TR4 (I think) and many others including a Triumph motorcycle.

My father would ride his motorcycle, with his suit on, to and from work everyday and would give the kids, that I would have lined up on the sidewalk, rides when he got home from work.

There was also the Fairchild airplane which I was sure they were going to push me out of when they took us up flying for they, &#8220;liked my brother best&#8221;.

The 1st sailboat, which my father built in the ba*****t of our house and my mother complaining the whole time he would never get out. The 1st sailboat led to bigger sailboats which were kept on the Chesapeake Bay, what fun we had sailing the bay and eating hard shell crabs.

For my brother and I to cut school to go skiing was always a valid excuse with my father, what a p***ionate skier he was and skied all over the world but liked to ski in the <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com[IMG]</st1:country-region>US the best, mostly C<st1:State w:st="on">olorado</st1:State>. Dad skied until he was 78 years old!!!
    <O:p</O:p
    <O:p</O:p

What a love of life my father had, he worked hard to play hard and loved every minute of it. He has been gone now 4 ½ years and I&#8217;m sitting here crying as I key this in &#8211; I miss him.

WOW did anyone get hurt when they hit the deer???

  15. :)Thanks for the great pics of your Father Bart! I loved the fish cleaning...where everyone got involved:p
My Dad has been gone 14 years, but I still have vivid memories of him teaching me to drive the 39' Chevy. He put wooden blocks on the pedals so I could reach the clutch and brake. We used to drive the turnpike to visit my Aunt and Uncle....one time he sat
me in the steering wheel and as we drove along, I yanked the keys from the ignition and tossed them out the window. Not sure how that got resolved:confused: Dad took me fishing, hunting and always taught me the safety of the sports. :)
I'm sure all our Dads did the very best they could with us.....after all....look how many great people there are here on the HAMB :D

Thanks, thanks alot. Threads like this remind me how lucky we are to have fathers that not only loved vehicles, but also loved to include their children in the p***ion they had/have.

I am blessed to have my father around but no one knows what today will bring. Since my father retired seven years ago we have become road trip pals. We have now created a bond that 30 years of him running a business denied me of.

So to all of the fathers out there Happy Fathers Day. And remember to spend a little time with your children and p*** the p***ion on. Maybe someday they will repeat the process.........:)

My Dad taught me how to drive when I was twelve. It was in a little '69 Datsun pickup. It had an 1100 cc four-banger with a 4-speed. I was stoked! Dad let me drive! Of course, the first run, I popped the clutch several times, stalled it several times, but got going and drove! That day was so cool!

He's in the hospital now, with all kinds of **** going wrong with him. Called him to wish him a Happy Father's Day, and he didn't know that was today. Plus, my kids haven't said **** about Father's Day, so I'm in a bit of a funk. Maybe I'll just crank up the '37 and go somewhere today. Get a cold chocolate milk shake or something.

Yes, a Happy Fathers Day to everyone. I have had a Fathers Week. My twins came to visit on Monday (35 yrs old) one from ****omery AL and the other from New Mexico. Along with my 6yr old granddaughter MaKayla. Then Thursday night our 10 year old grandson stayed the night and again last night.

I am just trying to be a good grandfather now, Austin ( the 10 yr old ) is the gearhead but I love'em all. My only hard and fast rule as a Dad was a lot like my fathers I think. I let them know they can't screw up bad enough for me not to love them. I think that has kept the communications open over the years. And Lord knows I tested that a few times in my youth. Miss ya Dad.

Austin and MaKayla from Tursday night. What a couple of hams. lol And a shot of MaKayla and I getting ready to cruise in the hot rod.

Great Father's Day Story ! Thanks Bart ! You're lucky to have been able to have all the great memories with your Dad .
I also remember the ones I had with my Dad also ! I was the one who taught him about car , cars wasn't his thing ! Unfortunately my Dad was taken away from me at an early age , so treasure the great times you have because you just never know when the time will come .

HAPPY FATHER'S DAY TO ALL THE GREAT DADS ! :D

    WELL WRITTEN/GREAT STORY

My dad has been gone a few years but lucky for me, he lived long enough for us to be best friends.
He wasn't really a car guy because he'd buy them already done.
He was a boat guy. I'm proud to have had him for a dad.

He had a unique way of teaching life's lessons to me without me knowing.
I use those lessons nearly every day.

Lucky for me, I lived long enough to be friends with both of my sons who are now in their mid/late 20's.
Oh.... and both of them are car guys.
