Yes, they were there this year...up on the hill near the fence. I was going to rent one for my dad (he's got an artificial knee), but we ended up walking and 'bout got ran over half a dozen times. Reminded me of Hershey. Awesome event though. Some really cool show cars. And just to be able to see Tom Hannah's fueler was a real treat.
Had a great time all weekend. Great to see and talk to all the people there. Car ran great. Unfortunatley, I let it down with a poor reaction time in the second round loosing with a 11.06 on an 11.0 bracket. I don't feel bad about loosing when the guy next to me uses his brakes tho, not my style of racing.... Our whole group was ready to go anyway, damn it was hot there.....all my p***es were 11.0.....except the one that the wheels came up and carried, I shifted to bring them down but ended up in third, still ran an 11.12! Littlemans truck was fighting him in the heat and humid air, but his burnouts I think were his best, that motor really sounds great. Steve got Blew By You into the 10.s for the first time with that air, so big step for him and congrats...Eric's 51 was awsome as usual........the only bummer is I never got to race against anything cool....I think this event would be so much better if they could figure out how to make the cl***es make sense.....
That's what killed the California Reunion. Attracting the wrong people. You know when you're in the wrong hobby when everyone needs a golf cart to drive to the outhouse. Thanks for the pics everyone!
I was wondering where they put all the golf carts for the US Open now I know, there in Bowling Green. The Golf Cart Nationals need to be held on Father's Day weekend. I can't say where, because I'm gonna offend somebody somewhere.
Thanks for the posts all. If I may be so forward. Could anyone who took some pics of any of the Fiats especially Spartacus. Could you post them or send them to me. I have never seen that Car close up. thank you Was there any Golf cart Fiats... That is a Joke BTW. .
We were pitted so far out in the boonies that we never would have known when to run without driving the golf cart up to the lanes and see what was going on. It was still wet enough that we had to pull out the truck and trailer next to us out of the mud yesterday afternoon. It was still a big time though. Got to the the 3rd round. Did a good 2nd gear wheelie once. Didn't break anything expensive.
Luke, thanks for the great picture thread on Bowling Green. It is to bad that it has been over run by golf carts much like the event itself. I had the pleasure of doing the lettering for Rich Venza's Pinocchio Fiat and it was great to see it in the pic's. Someday, I would like to make that event. More pictures please.
Grizzlehopper not trying to be an A** just want to add your post here so it doesn't get missed. By the way how did you come up with that name? As the kids say today Madd cool car... thank you http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=373225 .
Dave your car is mint. Did you ever do any post on your car I can look at? Can you post some detailed shots of it. I mean the real stuff like your Frame Suspension, Build up, etc?? I just love the details..
Bob thats cool you did the lettering. I definitely need to talk to you when the time comes. Need some gold leafing and some hand lettering. Rich says hes going to Beaver Springs. Want to go?
HUGE difference between running a golf cart around the pits out of necessity and riding a golf cart around in the show and shine area out of laziness. Sorry I missed seeing you. I walked about half the pits. I didn't have a golf cart.

See there, it would have come in handy. We do need it for legit reasons. Also for riding around to socialize at the end of the day. We cruised back to the Hamb area Friday evening but everybody was gone. Saw your Olds though. I think we followed you into the track Sunday. Were you riding with your Dad?
Just saw this after posting my own thread....whoops. Anyhow, here is a link to my pics....... http://s219.photobucket.com/albums/cc265/hotrodpodo/Hot Rod Reunion 2009/?albumview=slideshow Sorry 'bout the so-so quality of some of the nightime stuff......still learning my camera.
No sorry needed. Thats cool hotrodpodo its just great you posted pics.... Thanks for posting them. I hate to copy somebodies post it seems rude. But you get pics and posts all over the internet and I am just trying to put them together cause its so easy to miss them. And thats a crime especially for something as important as this.. I would have loved to have been their.
Nope, twas not I. After breakfast Sunday morning I hit the road for home solo. Dad did not attend this event. I had work today. Next year I think I'll take Monday off and use it for the travel day that way I get one more day to spend at that awesome venue. I guess I'll see you at the HAMB Drags then huh? You owe me TWO hugs now.
Oh yeah. He saved us a spot so we were right next door and gave me a cold Canadian beer Friday after my last p***. It was good. Your buddy took advantage of our shade and mega fan. It were hot, damn hot.
x2 You wanna ***** about golf carts.....you shoulda been with us trying to drive back to the campgrounds in my (new) car after Cacklefest Talk about a golf cart bottleneck And they were p***ing me on both sides, merging in front of the car,, 4-5 wide, etc---kinda like I was invisible....
