I have a 8ba in my 51 shoebox and just replaced the carb. Every thing was the same except the baseplate where the throttle shaft is. the baseplate that came with the replacement carb has some kind of valve on the back side which looks like a power valve but I know it isn't. Can someone give me some information on this peice? What is it? What does it do? Do I need to block it off, or will leaving it alone cause any idling issues?

I believe it is a spark valve. One of my 94's has it. I think I read somewhere u plug it to run the carb on a flathead but not sure.

I think it's an anti-spark thingy but just plug it off and run it. It is for the later fords and early y blocks I think, mid 50's.
