pick this 55 chevy truck about two weeks ago.the truck has a 69 camaro sub frame and a ladder rear set up. not a traditioal suspension but great set up bags down the road. but for now planes are to put together and drive the **** out of it. the truck came with two small block chevy a trans that was rebuilt.new windshield and a new grill and more.
is it the big back window or the small one? sounds like a helluva project. take more pics and keep posting.
here is some more pic on how we set up the rear end last week and this week we filling the holes on the fire wall
I have a Volare sub frame with 2" dropped spindles on the front and on the rear I have posie low rider springs with the axle on top of the springs. In order to get it this low I had to raise the floor of the bed about 4" to clear the rear axle. The ride is good and it drives great down the road. Later, ****
Looks like your making good progress. I purchased a 55 Big Back Window project a few months back in a similar condition. Late 70's Camaro Subframe, Camaro rearend etc., I've had to weld in new steps, inner and outer cab corners, rebuild the door hinges, fab up from sheet metal radiator support mount which also doubles as my front bumper mounting bracket support I ran into a previous customer who also has a 55 truck that I built for him and he gave me the windshield and back gl*** because they had minor flaws. This one is going to be my shop truck so I don't mind a scratch her and their. Keep posting pictures of your build...makes me want to work on mind that much more
Lookin good. I'm going to have to start posting progress pics of my '56 Chevy pickup....wait, first I need to make progress.
the firewall is smooth and ready for primer.and the frame is painted black and the coil springs are painted silver.
we have the front fender's sitting right on the subframe and the gaps between the fender's and doors are looking good.still have a little more work to do the gaps.
Nice project. There is one of those for sale near me, wish I had the cash to pick it up. I love the looks of these lowered.
