I have a Edelbrock 4x2 for a Cadillac still in the original box with water decal and extended throttle shafts. It has the newspaper from 61 in there to stuff the box. I was going to E-bay and let it ride I have had some offers but not sure if I was being low balled.

Is it really New Old Stock or is it neat old*****? Most people nowadays don't know the difference. New stands for as new, not rusted and shelf worn.

Trust me, if you can't use it sell it. Use the money toward something you'll use.

It's NOS I got it from a guy who bought out a speed shop years ago and it sat in a warehouse for 30 years.

NOS Caddy 4 x 2 intake is better than money in the bank. sell it if you need the cash for something else, or keep it and sell it for more in a few years.

    "not rusted and shelf worn."

New Old Stock. has nothing to do with condition. just an item that has never been put on a car.

shelf ware is common. as is rust on bare steel parts. bought some NOS skirts once, allcovered in surface rust.

I'd be leary of selling something of value on ebay these days. definitly use a reserve.. the days of cool old parts ending in a bidding war are over for the most part.

if you do the ebay thing remember you need SIGNATURE CONFIRMATION to be protected from a paypal screwing on any item over $250.00. even though they have to sign for the insurance, you need to purchase seperate signature confirmation. the signature has to be viewable online.

I bought this NOS Weiand Intake a couple months ago for my 365 Cad V8. I'm not really concerned with whether or not it's NOS or not because when I'm done with it it will be well used I****ure you.

Like banjorear said if your not going to use it sell for something that you will. I certainly would not have a problem using it.

Well that's just great... Now I gotta offer up my right nut in trade too.

    Beautiful stuff!

  18. To me, the value in some NOS parts isn't the part, its the whole package that lived on the shelf, with the stickers and all.

If someone wanted the intake to fill the hole between their carbs and heads, they might just as well get a used one. As soon as you bolt it on, it stops being NOS and is just another used part.

About 8 years ago I bolted a pair of brand new 8 inch M&H piecrust slicks on my plymouth. People would ask about them all the time. I used to tell them that they were brand new, but then it occured to me that everything was new once, and after you use it, it just isn't new anymore.

Sell it and buy something nice. Let someone else have it for show and tell while it gets preserved for another 40 years.

I'll definatly put a reserve I'm not going to let it walk away. Trying to get 3x2 and might have to let this help in puttin funds back in the Hot Rod fund.

I have another piece that I've thought about selling. The biggest problem I have is when will I get to have this stuff again if I sell it. Never JJ I have looked for that intake and always found one when I was broke.

Don't Sell and here is why:

These parts will only get more valuable

They cost nothing to hold on to

They don't eat or*****, so You don't have to cleanup after them.

Chances are, you'll never be able to replace them.

Yeah, but what if you could use the funds in the short run to make something run and drive sooner??? I'd rather sell stuff (which I'm gonna do my self) and be on the road sooner than sitting around with my wrench in my hand tryin to scrape money together for that next part. Sell it and get that 32 done man! I'd stay away from Ebay though Cory. It's not bringin the big bucks at the moment from what I'm seeing..

I'm in kind of the same situation. Been cleaning house here... I have NHRA event programs back to 1955, rule books back to 59. Original posters, decals and boxes full of race related stuff & old drag / hot rod parts. When's the last time you saw a blank NASCAR drivers license application from 1957 or 1964 US Nationals entry form? I even have an original Chrondek with the spin timers sitting here.

Original plan was to enjoy collecting and then sell off when the fun was gone. Well bills pile up, work gets hard to find and I'm getting hungry. Some of this stuff I have not seen since it was purchased and filed away.
Ebay seems to have fallen on it's face, decent swap meets in this area are few & far between.

Anyone want to trade a house & shop full of stuff for an old 32 thru 34 Ford driver or some other ride? I'd rather be out cruising than sitting home surrounded by all this "neat old stuff"

This is correct, although a lot of people apparently don't understand. NOS referrs to a part that was made in the era of the car it fits, by the company that built the car, but remained unused to this day. A lot of NOS chrome trim items will not be as flawless as a professional rechrome, and NOS panels might have dings and rust on them from sitting, but they are still NOS.

Sorry for the thread derailment, but I wanted to say that.

If you dont have what it fits, or saving for a build, well...
On the other hand I'm a slave to boxes and rooms and a garage FULL of*****. Its all heavy and dirty. I tellem it will be the best yard sale when I die.

I fyou dont need the cash, sit on it. You never know when someone has an equally******n aprt you need they will trade for. Usually trades work out for both. Hell, the box is******in by itself. I usually use a three year rule, if I haven't looked at it, showed it to someone else or at least talked about it in the period of time, then I would sell it 'cuz it just doesn't mean that much.
