Helping my mom clean out their garage attic and finding all kinds of cool stuff. Found this box and opened it up. Vintage 60’s slot car stuff. My mom says it must have been mine, but I don’t remember cars like these at all. All the slots I remember were the small ones…these are 1/24 scale or so.

    Check it out..

    I lost those! They're mine.

That is a awsome kit. Circa 1966 and all very cool. That kit represents slot car racing of that period perfectly right down to the box. All good quality cars also. Good find! Never seen the Toranado body before. The one I like the the Cox Cheeta body. Clear one in the middle. I loved those cars. Twin motor car is very cool indeed1

I have Model Car Science magazines from this period and these cars you have where all used in the advertising. Somebody had some money to spend on the latest and the greatest.
    Good on ya!

Those are cool. I had a pair of GT40 style slot cars that vintage. My sister threw them out along with all of my other toys. Some people never change....

Cool find man. Now go see if they still work..... Better than X box any day...

Those decal sheets take me back!! I think my mom tossed them out on one of her "spring cleaning"

  11. Put them back and leave them for you grandchidren to find.

  12. Boy, those were the days when toys were cool. I never had any like that, but I'd read the old magazines as a kid and wish I could find some somewhere.

A lot of the AMT kits could also be had as slot cars for a while, too. That may be how the Toronado came about -

And there's some pretty good money there in that box, the collectors would go nuts for it over on eBay.

I never did find anything other than an Eldon 1/32nd or so '64 Bonneville that was my dad's - and I was in my 20s before I found a set of track to run that one on. I collected the Ideal battery slot cars for a while, what did they call those... Mot-R-Ifics I think -

That dual motor car was called a Black Widow IIRC.

You have some very cool stuff there. I had most all of what you have there, and more, back in the day. Your find is probably worth a lot.

I had a Stromberg track. Built cars from kits..or adapted model car kits (AMT..Revel). Learned how to build a track from masonite..made an attempt at recreating Road America.. Loved those nights in the ba*****t..

How come the cars always came off on the otherside of the track..?:)

Clearly you are child victim of the 60's and your mind is still a bit smokey if you don't remember your own slot cars!!!!:D

That is a cool collection of slot cars. Some of the body styles are familiar to me.

Now all you need is to find the track! Keep looking.

Cool!! I bet you don't find the track because the track was probably up town at the slot car place. See the alligator clips for hooking the controller up to the track. You took your box and went up town and ran your cars against everyone else! Swinging pickup for the contacts meant drags!! Nice find.

i had a eldon set with the "big" cars. when the transformer burned out i discovered that they could be ran by a battery. after filling up a couple of paper towel cardboard tubes with "D" batteries and some old christmas tree lights for wire i was back racing. have to admit when you plug one in to the wall "the sparks fly" and the look on the old mans face while he was changing the fuse we had just blown!

My dad has a set of those in his attic with several pieces of track.
Haven't seen them for maybe 30-35 years, the last time he had them down.
I wonder what they might be worth now days.

Great find. I still have my 1/24 scale cars and a complete track set from 1968. found it while helping mom and dad move a few years ago. Wish my shop was larger cause I'd set everything up and play with the cars again.

Do they sell 1/24th scale track with more than two lanes anywhere? It'd be cool to find a 4 lane track and go racing!

Carrera makes track wide enough for 1/24th scale.
