    I don't know that I've ever bought a project where some dip**** DIDN'T complete screw up the wiring before I got it. So many cars... Where are all these hacks? They've got to be everywhere. Let's list some of my favorites:

    -Attacking the car with wire cutters and then being surprised when nothing works. (That why wires have connectors, idiots.)
    -More than one **** connector in the same wire, or **** connectors in general.
    -Household (120v) wiring parts.
    -DIY security systems.
    -Hacked-up stereo systems (don't even get me started)

    What am I missing?

    it's not just home hacks, you ought to see the alarm wiring in my wifes civic, and there's a tag saying it was done at best buy, i pulled the bottom side of the dash,and everything FELL OUT! they didn't even secure the modules or try to make anything remotely neat looking. whats so funny,is if you want to buy an alarm there, they HAVE to install it. they won't let you buy the alarm and take it home to install yourself. thats all I need,some dropout minimum wage idiot cutting into my cars wiring. oh not all but connectors are bad, look at the aviation ones, they are a world away from walmarts chinese connectors.

  3. Oh man . . . the stuff of bad dreams.

    So many ways to do it wrong and dangerous and confusing and....

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Takes a little extra wire and for sure some extra fuses, but I wired my 32 with individual fused circuits to each component.
    One for left low beam, one for left high beam, one for left taillight etc.
    As well as fuse-link wire for the main feeds.
    No problems.
    I always liked the way aircraft were wired.
    Never could figure out why you should have to lose every external light in the car if you had a problem with one circuit.
    Another one I didn't care for was MSD's instructions that said to wire the ignition amplifier box direct.
    If there's a problem the engine's going to die anyway, so I fuse-linked the feed to it.
    I bought a T-bucket project once. All black wiring, no fuses, and zip-tied to the fuel line.
    I traded out wiring labor for some bodywork years ago. 50s chevy pickup.
    I carefully removed every added wire, cleaned every remaining connection, and had to reconnect about half the OE wiring under the dash. Ended up with about 5 pounds of 'extra' wire, and guess what, everything worked!
