I looked at your blogsite, wondering what kind of future a car with such potential might come to, and have no doubt, without knowing you personally, mind you, that you know your stuff. Your comment about rat rods tracks with my view. Maybe the newbies will grow up and realize it's not about shock but about building a ride. Good luck on this one.

  2. remember the attention that car created here, great to see it in your hands, give it the love it deserves and that car will be eternal.

    Cheers,

posted this on another thread, but just for contrast here's a hardtopped '40 FORD coupe that I'm building for a customer, not a matranga style chop, the Fords don't look as good with the roof layed down so much in back. but believe it or not, the A pillar and windshield are chopped almost exactly the same amount as the Rodriguez '40 Merc....I used two 40 ford roofs to achieve the shape i wanted...

    Hey Nads,

The musical note Merc was a Dick Dean car that Guildner re-did with a Packard grille about 10 years ago for Ron Martinez. It was in Hop Up issue #1. I saw it in OC in the late 80's in all its "musical" glory.

I passed on that car about 2 months before the LARS, the guy would'nt take less than 9k. Good luck Dan, I'm jealous, great car. I wish I woulda bought it even at 9.

  11. That is georgeous. I never thought I'd want to do a full on custom and chop to my '40 but that thing is sheet metal poetry. DAMN!! The wheels are turning.

It's been sitting in the corner of my shop while I work on customers cars. I am having a '47 merc flatty built for it. And I cleaned it up but other than that it's the same. Unfortunately I will probably be selling it as I just bought a '45 knucklehead and can't afford to keep all my toys. I had a guy from New Jersey on here commit to it a few months ago but he turned out to be a total douchebag so I'm glad he didn't buy the car in the end.
