Who's headed to Goodguys Nashville Nats???

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by loosewheel, Jun 22, 2009.

  1. Pal of mine called yesterday and was told $70.

    What's the REAL story?

I'm there, most likely. Got a car to sell and some parts, so I guess I'm swap area bound......Be worth the trip to see some of my HAMB buds ;)

I think its $70 if your not a member and $40 if you are allready a member. I was going up Sat. but I am now going to Va. to pickup my next project a 38 Plymouth. Hope to come back thru Nashville and stop for awhile. Have fun and drink plenty.

The real story is if you are a current member of Goodguys it's $45.00 to pre-register, $55.00 at the gate.

But like Kirk is always saying, that's one car, two people, for three days! Split it with a buddy, now it's $27.50 each! Huge car show, swap meet, commercial vendors, and the autocross. Did I mention you get in for three days?

If you're not a member it get's more expensive 'cause you have pay another $35.00 on top of that. But then in you get the Gazette every month for the next year and that's the best rod magazine out there after the Rodder's Journal. So what's wrong with that?

Here's the link to the registration form:

And no, Goodguys ain't paying me a dime! :)

  4. Well said 2002p51...
I cant seem to go to a local "free" cruise-in without spending $50 bucks. I have never been to a Goodguys event where I felt like I didnt get my money's worth. Even the last year I went to Indy and got stuck in the mud three different times, still had a blast.

    It wasn't me, it was Lumpster;

You may have misunderstood my post. I think Goodguys is a deal. I've seen single day shows, that were nothing but shows as high as $30. No swap meet, no other activities, just cars for $30.

A couple of years ago they held a "Fun Ford Weekend" here at Bristol Dragway and the cost of admission for me, my wife, and our car would've totaled $65.00 just for one day! We passed.

Do the math anyway you want and a Goodguys show is cheap fun. The real expense is the hotel/motel and food on the road, gas, etc., and Goodguys can't do anything about that. That's why we've started using the campgrounds. At least that helps a little.

But we're getting way off the original intent of this thread. Tonight we'll be packing up the mobile garage/redneck RV for an early start tomorrow morning. Registration is pre-paid and campground reservations are confirmed. We're staying at the Jellystone campground in this:

Yep, we're sleeping with the car inside the mobile garage! We tried it out at Bowling Green and it worked surprisingly well. Like I said, it saves on motel expenses. :)

So if you're staying there too, bring a chair and come hangout with us for a while.

Won't get to come this year. Will be in the garage working on the 48 trying to get it running by the Frog Follies. I've been once and its a great show. Well worth the price of admission. I go to 3 big shows a year and most likely this one will take the place of Knoxville NSRA next year.
Hope ya'll have a blast and drink a cold one for me!:D

Okay, but you gotta promise not to laugh. Also, I wouldn't exactly use the term "setup" to describe this.

Now you see why I called it the "Redneck RV"!

But let me tell you , this actually worked out great. The car is shoved all the way back against the rear door so there's enough room. That's a real box spring and mattress, so it's better than sleeping bags on air mattresses or something like that. We ran a power cord from the camp site hook-ups for lights and power for the lap top. We cooked on a charcoal grill outside. It looks ridiculous and sounds like a screwy idea but it worked out just fine.

For travel, we tie the "bed" up against the front wall so the car can be moved forward for proper tongue weight.

Bowling Green last year was the first place we tried it.

Okay, you can go back to laughing now! :)

It was the Goodguys, Bowling Green last October. Saturday night it got pretty chilly so a little heater might have been in order. :)

Was there Friday morning, bring your own water. Drinks on the grounds were $3.50 a pop, including water. Guess Bud Adams got to pay them big NFL salaries some how.
