Dunno, this what you want to see? Upper drop is the stock 30 tank drop, lower on the firewall is a late 31 bolted to the firewall. Column is exhaust pipe...

I bead rolled, the bent the edge back, and made a curved section for the bottom. The column is inside the tube, making it look like the column is welded to the drop

Canuck! is that made with cnc or hand?

  12. It's been a while, but there's another steering column pics thread from a couple years back.

Nothing wrong with leaving this one up.

I'm sure some new stuff will surface.

    Canuck, well done.

Lots of filing, grinding etc. after the machining I'll bet.

Would make a great tech article if you have the pics.

  13. This is a home made drop by Kirk Duquett in his Woody '32 roadster pickup.

Sorry, no pics of the process.

Tools utilized: a drill press, a old made in Tiawan one that goes down to 270 RPM, a angle grinder and files and lots of time.

So it doesn't take a fancy shop for anyone to make one or great machinest skills, just lots of determination and some time. Just remember to measure carefully cause you can't just re-run the CNC program and do it again.

only problem i have is that my column is way lower than the factory one so im basically going to have to remove the old one from the tank and put a longer one in place of that ...does the old one need to be drilled out to be removed ??????

The 29-29 is factory welded to the gas tank, thats why I ran mine the way it is.
