... is this Saturday. If you NorCal HAMBers are lookin' for something to do, come on over to Santa Cruz. It's our 15th annual show and we get around 200 woodies. Bring your kids, bring your sunscreen, it's supposed to be hot and sunny. Come early, parking can be a *****.
I'll be there for a while...work till 3am Friday night & start at 5.30 Saturday, so will slide the show in between getting up & going to work...did the same last year.
I just came from the pre- WOW 38th ave paddle-out. Probably 20+ woodies (and a bunch of old guys with longboards...) there just for that. It would have been a good woodie show just about anywhere else in the country just by itself.
I went a few years ago, great show , its the luck of the draw if it will be sunny or foggy, when I was there the fog bank was right at the end of the pier, coming in and covering half the cars , then going out again, Did that 2-3 times before lunch , So bring a light jacket Have Fun Beaulieu
Santa Cruz, my wife's hometown, don't get back there very often, but would like to see that woody show. We met there in 69 when we were kids, had most of our dates on the beach boardwalk. Was a small town then, cruising Beach Street / 2nd Street loop was great before they narrowed the 2nd Street hill to just one lane, used to be lots of racing 3 cars wide up that hill. Had one of the most memorable night races of my life on a private airstrip up at Bonny Doon, and lots more on Hwy 9.
this is a good show. I think I'll go. I was going to post a link to the pics I posted last year, but I guess I never posted them. search woodies on the wharf and you will see a couple photo posts from previous years Palo Alto Concourse de Elegance is sunday for us Bay Area folks http://www.paconcours.com/
See ya'll bright & early. Stop by and say hi. I'll be the (only) guy with a maroon 50 Plymouth. good thing you don't have a maroon 46-48 Ford. there will be 5 of them there I bet. ...not that there is anything wrong with that.
