    Howdy,

    No general consensus as yet.

Most used tire out here are the Cokers (claimed 6" tread), 78 I think they are. Actually 6 1/2" at the foot print, they're technically not legal but no one here's running fast enough to bother calling'em on it.

A complete parts pile to start with? Nice. :D

Glad to see old6rodder is not going to report me to the HAMB police. If 11.22 is not fast enought to be reported then you should be safe. The coker tire seems to work well for us. I know Ron Golden also runs them. some run the donnut tire. Not me it say's not to exceed 55 mph on them. I also have a set of 10" hurst pie crust i run on mine when i really feel like breaking the rules. However the weigh so much more it is not any faster LOL

Welcome to the world of the HA/GR dragsters. Without a doubt your exposing yourself to the world of diehard drag racers that have taken a different approach to this sport. I hope you'll enjoy it as much as we have.

It seems the Coker Cl***ic, L-78 tire is the choice of most of us since it meets the rules (?), is available and seems to have a pretty soft compound. Unfortunately they still won't "hook" worth a damn and spin thru first and second gears. You might do a search for something better, but so far I haven't found one.

Wouldn't do any good anyhow. I've noticed the only place they actually show up is here on the 'net. Never in person at the strip ....... ;)

    ****,

Does that mean I can run nitrous at the drags if I don't mention it here in the forum?

    Two things.

Can someone recommend the best and tallest Radial tire that would be legal for a SDRA car.

Second , before anybody buys new seat belts it should be noted that one manufacturer has caved-in on the two-year seat belt scam the NHRA has run for all these years.

RCI Safety, through Summit only, is offering standard pricing on seat belts for a four year period.
Mail 'em in at two years and they will recertify them for another two years for free. Recognition that the drag racing parts market is feeling the economeic pain we all are.

They only come in platinum color...it's a platinum deal--get it? I got mine yesterday.

Of course, just paint the bottle black & rust and call it an "over-flow can" like you've been doing. :D

Can't help you on the radials, out of my knowlege span.

The belts thing sounds good but I think I'll wait and see what the "Nazis' Hate Rodders ***oc" does in response (ours are good for this season at any rate).
Also, if they turn sensible on this maybe others'll follow "suit" (did I say suit )?

  10. 80% of HA/GR cars in oz use these, it's what we reccommend, and whilst we're fairly slow (faster guys only running 13's), we've not had any negative h***les thus far.

    Cheers,

The NHRA rule book states that you only have to have cert seatbelts if you run faster than a 11.49 Et. This is what i was told at HRR in BG.

General Regulations 10:5, Driver restraint systems.
As referred from 10:11, Seat Belts.

Essentially; roll bars and roll cages require 3", five point harness and mounts from single manufacturer, mounted per manufacturer's directions, clearly labelled as sfi 16.1, dated and upgraded at standard two year intervals.

Overkill for our cars of course, but it's their ballpark.
Non-certed belts only apply to certain door slammers.

And they are compacter tires so will not have any speed rating. will have heavy tread and likely to fly apart at any speed over "compacter" speed.

  21. No radials
    No slicks
    No drama:)

As mentioned, we use and reccommend the L78 coker tyres, and are happy with their effectiveness within this cl***. Once a car gets above the 12's (ET), then I can appreciate that users are a bit nervous, and that's why they're there, as well as the limited 6" tread....

    Cheers,

    Drewfus:)
