I'm running a 700r trans and the engine is a 454, I've done alot of reading about the 700r trans and how to adjust or set the T.V. cable. My problem is when I come to a stop the trans does not want to downshift into low. It want's to hang up in second, it stumbles and if i don't go really slow to let it downshift it will stall the engine, i almost have to manually put the car in neutral so it won't stall. Any help is appreciated. Leave the "do a search" for someone else's post. The LARS was awesome last weekend!
^ what he said. If it's stock you've wired it to full time lock and there's a good chance it won't have much longevity. TCI makes a nice little kit to convert em over to non-ecm lockup, drop the pan and it's a handful of wires and a screw-in pressure switch. It'd be a 5 minute swap if it wasn't for the pan & fluid hassle. Ultimately you need to put a pressure gauge on the transmission and verify pressure rise if there's any question at all about TV adjustment. They don't tolerate much. good luck
No, the positive wire is wired to the pressure switch located in throttle body. nothing out of the normal on this... That's why i'm thinking converter.
Trans. shop said to wire just like that. There are already a handful of wires and a screw in pressure switch. Thanks.
That's what the stock stuff is too. Might be worth some investigation, most standalone conversions also include an external vacuum switch. But you really gotta know line pressure too. good luck
I assumed you had the 4th pressure switch in place. I suppose it could be bad. (closed) Is it wired through the brake light switch too? Just disconnect it at the fuse block. The converter won't stick in lockup mode , once the fluid flow reverses. If it still won't downshift to low, back the cable off a little.
Thank's Markyac, goin' to the shop now. I'll leave an update when i get home. Thank's Shifty and Squirrel.
UPDATE, after disconnecting the lockout from ignition/ fuseblock. Trans. down shifts now. Thank's to everyone who responded. It was really nice drivin' the car down to the beach! H.A.M.B. Rules!!!!!
