Got to Tulsa and was it hot. Went through tech and then found Bob Hindman. I asked him where everyone was and he said that everyone had a problem. I made the first run, 11.677 at 116.59. Tires smokin' for about 150 feet. I won,:D Second race changed plugs and went colder, 11.691 at 117.52 still smokin' the tires 150 feet. I won:D Third run, let 4 lbs out of tires smoked tires worse 11.695 at 117.06 I won :D The car ran great if I could just get the tires to hook, L-78 Cokers exactly 6'' wide on 6'' rims and they were new last year. I came out at idle 2 runs and at 1800 the first run. If I open the the throttle wide open it is smoke city all through low gear. Anyway I took top time, low ET, top 60' time and beat all competition. I was playing with myself, let's see that didn't sound right, all the guys from Tulsa SDRA were there just not the cars. Everyone said wait till July 10 and 11. I'll be there, hope everyone else gets their's together. Did I mention it was hot.:D Roy

Would everyone who feels sorry for roy being able to average 11.68/117.05 please send him a dollar. Folks roys engine was crisp and clean when he hit the gas it spooled up like it was a electric motor . I be live his 1/8 time was 97mph 7.5 et not to shabby for spining the tires

I am not complaining, because even with the slipping around it still did the best it has ever done. The car feels like a rocket on the top end. I tried driving it out the back door and it hit 6800 after the lights. I don't want to take a chance on that again. My wife only took one still photo and here it is. She said that she wasn't thinking clearly and wanted to know if I had mentioned that it was hot. :D Roy

Might be interesting to make a wide open throttle run just to see what it would do.

It would make a great video.

If nothing else, you could set the record for best and longest burnout for these cars.:D

    Roy,

Congratulations on some good numbers. It sounds like you got the Jimmy hitting hard on all cylinders. However, 6800 rpm is just a LITTLE above the comfort level for the Hudson rods. It does make me feel pretty good though that it stayed together.

Your car is very impressive, and would make a pretty good bracket car.

By the way, was it hot in Tulsa?

Sounds like there might be more in it with some good weather?

P.S. Can't think of anything catchy about the heat??
