I do not have pictures, but Al and Vic Hubbard in 1958 or so built a dual engine dragster, I believe it was Chevy in front, and Olds behind the driver. I will always remember my friend (Neighbor of Vic Hubbard's Speed Shop) and I following it around the streets of the Cherryland district in Hayward while they tried it out.
Ford designed and built those engines in 1963 to run in the Indy 500, they were based on the windsor block, the block was cast aluminum with 255 cu in displacement, the heads are aluminum with gear drivin dual overhead cams, and four valves per cylinder, the hilborn fuel injection went into intake ports that went straight down to the intake valves then all most straight into the combustion chambers. When Ford quit racing the engines were turned over to A.J. Foyt he turbocharged them, and called them Coyote engines.
Hah hah, i knew this one would attract attention. This car is a Don Long ch***is. Car was built by Jim Busby and run under the Busby & Banard Top Fuel entry at the 69 Winternationals. Engines are 300ci Indy Fords running on nitro. This car only ran once and was clocked at 8.27 @186.12MPH. It is said this was the most expensive T/F car ever built at that time. Cost was $100.000 {69 money}. Other info states Busby bought 5 Indy Fords for $3500.00. Dig the headers.
I raced a twin-engine T/F Harley from 83-85. I bought it from Elmer Trett when he switched to blown Kawasaki power. John Peters had retired his "Freight Train" so I named mine the same to carry on the twin-engine tradition. This was the end of the twin-engine T/F Motorcycle era. I could still qualify in an eight bike field when I bought it but couldn't after two years. I retired from racing in '85 and sold it to my crew chief who still has it. We have recently "cackled" it at the NHRA Bowling Green and Gatornationals events. I get more attention now than when I was racing it since there are so many new drag racing fans who have never seen a multi-engined T/F bike before. I will post some pictures when I figure out how to.
Car Craft September 1960 has a full six page feature on the Tommy Ivo Buick Twin. Never knew the quick change was offset to the left of his knee in that cover photo.

Here's one that's always fascinated me. In 1964 BRM built this to go Grand Prix racing. They took 2 of their 1.5 liter flat 8s and laid them on top of each other to make a 3 liter H-16. It didn't work very well...

Although I am a big fan of drag racing my favorite twin engine car has to be Herbert Bowden's "Flying Dutchman" with twin 60HP Mercedes. He took this to Ormond Beach in January of 1905 and went 109+ on the beach. Must have been a handful at speed -120HP in that era was a big deal-Jim
