  1. The logo on the back is not a patch. It is embordered with a stitching style called chain stitching. It is a size small and I will sell it. Send me a PM for the price.

My favorite bardahl item is an original black silk racing jacket. (It's not for sale)

  3. For those who haven't visited the lovely Skandanavian city neighborhood of Ballard, here's Bardahl's sign. It's a few stories tall by a few wide and is a handful of blocks away from my house. It's wonderful and I love it. I turn up Bardahl collectables all the time Dave. I could probably help you out.

Unfortunately, the sign is now blocked from view coming over the Ballard Bridge by new condo/retail construction, where I'd be hypmotized by the "moving headlight" effect while waiting for the drawbridge for the last 30 some years.

I fear for its continued existence, as the neighborhood is being condo'ed to death.

My Grandfather was a Bardahl distributor in Southern Illinois in the post war to mid '60's. He was also the Oldsmobile Cadillac dealer in Benton Illinois.

I have heard Bardahl stories all my life - the draining the oil form the cars and riding around town with the drain plug on the dash of a new '61 Oldsmobile....the machine that mounted a Timken bearing against a spinning steel disc - one running a bath of Bardahl, the other in a regular engine oil....

My dad and my uncle told stories of going to the the auto auctions in Chicago in '58-59, buying '55-57 model cars with 40k miles, never had an oil change in their lives, "chugging and smoking, stuck rings, tailpipes black as coal"- dumping two cans of Bardahl in them, and towbaring another car home...by the time they rolled in to Benton - "the tailpipes on the tow cars would be light grey and running smooth as glass"

I still have a couple cans of the later green/black treatment...

    Billingsley Motors - Benton Illinois.

Doe anybody remember the 1965 Miss Bardahl Hydroplane battery-operated plastic toy that Eldon manufactured in 1966?

Its probably the best item in my Bardahl collection - still new in the box!!!
