That's what I thought when I first saw the thumbnails. Minne-Mo made some pretty versatile stuff, but I still wouldn't like to commute in it.

30 mph After some time you get into the grove and get used to it. Spent quite a few days running 30-40 mph convoying through sleet and snow in the big rig. once you get used to others blowing by and see how far you got you know you'll still get there.
But if you have other things to do... damn where's my overdrive

    Hi from New Zealand

We had 2 Chamberlins back in the 70's with backhoes, quickest tractor on the road here. Although I think the M***ey Harris Twin Power with the Chrysler engine might have given them a run for thier money.

I drive my tractor everywhere, we have 3 farms about 30 miles between them and it takes me longer to trailer back and forth than to drive, so i usually just drive. You would think a lot of people would be upset, but i always get bigger smiles from little kids and that makes up for the turds that get upset. i have 3 usual forms of transportation tractor, 1951 ford F3 and my bicycle i am used to seeing the world at best 40mph. I love how it takes some aussies to make us remember the spirit of America. I promise i am going to drive my tractor to nashville to meet up with these folks. I LOVE IT. this **** makes my day

  8. Thats KPH, dang 110MPH would be wild for a tractor!

  9. Should've used these tractors to deliver the mail to Abalinga!!!;)

here is the map of their route that some of you have requested. They left from the howard county fairgrounds on sunday and headed west. I would imagine there out of MD by now and somewhere in west virginia or ohio. If anyone spots them make sure to post it here to keep the rest of us informed. If they call me i will let everyone know there progress.

kiwiboy- My grandfather was an area service manager for deere in the maryland area from 1967 to about 1985. before that he was a mechanic at a local dealer on the eastern shore of maryland. He was the last area service manager hired in the u.s. without an engineering degree and was better at solving problems then any of the ones with a degree. He still works two days a week at a local deere dealer and is 79 years young!!

How cool is that !...and I thought my buddy had balls running his 1950's Unimog up and down the entire west coast... Looks like the Americans haven't give up totally...

MYSTIC, Conn. -- Connecticut man neared the end of his cross-country journey on a lawnmower Tuesday.
Paul Woods has traveled from Alaska to Connecticut on a lawnmower, and the 6,000-mile journey was set to end Wednesday in Mystic.
Woods made the journey on a Toro mower, pulling a wagon behind, with his dog, Yoda, as his companion.
"I made it this far," Woods told Eyewitness News Tuesday. "I only have about 40 more miles to go. I'll do it tonight and tomorrow.
"Woods said he has gone through about a dozen front tires and two sets of back tires as well as a set of landing-gear tires.
When asked what the best part of the trip was, Woods, a former roadie for the Grateful Dead, answered, "The scenery, I can say that -- the scenery, not the breakdowns."

Reminds me of the movie "The Strait Story" or something like that.

I hope these guys do well and raise awareness for their charities at the same time.

Great idea and admirable cause, but I also agree it will be an accident waiting to happen.
You can only take so many back roads these days.
I'll wait for the movie to come out.

  15. My best mate (Ex Army too!) runs a road train between Perth and Darwin now, 4 full size trailers and most of the 4500 Km (About 2800 miles) trip is on dirt roads. I went along as a rider on a couple of trips. NEVER AGAIN!

    Doc.

  16. Wasn't there a guy in the late 90's, that rode a riding lawn mower across the US:eek:

    Tractor Trek Update:

Four of the five Chamberlains have arrived in fine shape here in Ft. Wayne, Ind. One was lagging behind for repairs in Archbold, Ohio and is going to have to play catch-up with the others.

Spent about an hour at their campground taking some pictures and jawing and sharing a beer with a couple of the crewmembers. A fun, friendly group and it would have been too easy to spend the whole evening sitting around with them. It may take me a couple days but I'll get some of the pics hosted and linked up here.

If they're coming thru your area try to stop by, take a few pics and give them a HAMB welcome. I told them that we're following their progress.:D

A few pics of the Trekkers and their tractors from their campground here in Ft. Wayne. Got to meet Ron, and Neville and I believe Jeff (pictured) were kind enough to share their beer and a few stories of their trip so far.

The company I work for built that cab for "Minnie Mo". Wish they still had the blueprints and tooling.........
