Just discovered a 1950 Lincoln 4-door "roller" that is for sale cheap. Never had one and dont know anything about them except that they look kinda like a 50 merc. This one has no engine or trans. Get my first look at it tomorrrow. Is this anything good to buy for parts? Does this have the kind of front brakes that some guys are looking for? Any help in educating me would be greatly appreciatted. I dont need a bunch more junk that no one needs!
First you need to know if it is a Cosmopolitan or the smaller one. The smaller one is the one that is like a Mercury, uses the same body from the firewall back. ***uming it's rough and for parts only, the rear window with surrounding sheetmetal should be worth some decent coin to someone wanting to chop a '51 Mercury or shoebox Ford. The round tail lights with the gunsights in them are also sought after by customizers and will fetch decent money. The dash will fit into a Mercury, as will the trunklid and the back bumper. If the floors are good, someone would probably want the whole car to build as a project. The good Lincoln brakes that people want are 48-back.
Buy it, I don't know of anything half way decent from the '50s that isn't worth at least $500. If it was in Central ca. it would be in my shop by now.
here ya go. I'll educate you. if you have to ask those questions leave it for someone who knows the answers.
Yes, buy it and if you don't want it, p*** it along to someone who does. Those cars make great customs and there aren't many left.
If you buy it and want to part it I would be interested in summa dem dair parts. They do make a sweet looking custom!
Hey, thank to all those who were willing to actually ofer some helpful advice. I am going to see the car today at 5 and I will take my camera and my trailer. Again, thanks!
The one below is a very good friend of mines. It started out as a 4 door. For the price as long as it is worth a damn I'd say get it.
****, just read again, sorry for being stupid. Anyway, I may know someone who needs it so if it falls through or decide you want to sell, let me know.
I wonder if its the same car I found over a year ago that at the time had a running flathead and its been yanked? It was in Cleveland, Oh clear ***le and all but not what I was looking for.
On the advice of many, I bought it for the $400 and dragged it home. Here it as it arrives in my yard. It is a 4-door baby Lncoln. Have not spent much time looking it over yet as it needs to be unloaded to see it all well. Has all the doors and they are decent, has a good trunk lid, has dash shell, some window gl***, all body side trim, no stock seats, no tail lights (darn!), has steering column and box, real good original ch***is with all brakes and drums and wheels, has rear gl*** trim, no bumpers, has real decent front fenders, has original steering wheel, has all inside door garnish and w/s garnish, has grill parts, plus some misc I cannot ID. Has a good ***le. I will sell it all for $850 or close to that. If I cannot do that, I will start parting it out.
