Putting a 9in rear in my 51 ford car and was wondering if anyone has put in a 4 link with bags? Do they use shocks also and what is a good brand? I have found 4 links and airbag kits but not both combimed.
We have done several with both. Depends on what your working with as far as floor space, and if you need/want to cut. Definetly use shocks or you will hate the bounce. We just finished redoing a 50 cadillac that has all the above and no floor pan mods, or notch. Let us know if we can help.
You can do a triangulated 4 link and bags over or behind the axle. A true 4 link will need a pan hard bar to locate the rear end. YES you need shocks with both setups. Keep in mind over the axle bags make the ride more bouncy, so behind the axle is better. For maximum lift you should place the bags on the lower bars (tri setup), this will give you the best ride as well. These setups can be done with little floor cutting if planned correctly. I would call Alex Gambinio and talk shop on parts, he is and Allaince vendor and a great guy ta'boot.
