I searched for some of the answers I was looking for but had no luck. I recently got the a/c working on my 63 Riv. While it is working ,it is not working propperly so I'm looking for a few answers. Any help would be appreciated. 1. Where can I find a diagram or a pic of where all the small vacuum lines (under the hood) need to connect to? 2. Is there a pressure cycling switch somewhere or is that what the expansion valve is for? 3. I used Redtek (R12) freon and used 3 small cans of it along with 1 small can of compressor oil. Is this the propper amount I need? The guy at NAPA said it was ,but we all know how that can go.
If you can find a factory body service manual, it has the vacuum maps for the AC in them. I do not have one for a Rivi. There is no pressure cycling switch in a 65, the compressor runs all the time. The valve byp***es excess refrigerant back to the compressor when not needed. There is a bolt in conversion that eliminates this, using an orfice tube, and pressure cycling switch.
Ok, good news / bad news. I have a service manual for the Riv and will be more than happy to scan the pages you need. The bad news is I just moved and I can't find anything! I will be unpacking for the next couple of days, so hopefully it will turn up sooner than later. I know this isn't that much help, (at least not yet), but I thought a little light was better than none. On another note, have you tried the Riviera club? I used to be a member there, and those folks are generally very helpful and extremely knowledgeable about OEM. http://www.rivowners.org/
Thanks for the responses. I found a couple of answers I needed, but still need to figure out where some of the vacuum lines go. I'll try to locate a manual as suggested for this. Anybody else got any info, tips, suggestions?
