I'm looking for the vintage air conditioners that mount on the window, is anybody reproducing these? does anybody have one they want to loan out so I can copy it? I've already found portable coolers, a little spendy for my budget.http://www.swampy.net/12vcombo.html Thanks

I usually see about 3-4 a week on there sometimes if you type in thermadore you can get lucky and find one cheap.
If you're looking for something nostalgic to hang on your car for a cruise night, swamp coolers are OK. If you're looking for a cheap way to cool off, forget the swamp cooler unless you live in the middle of a desert. I put one on my Buick once and while the car was moving, it did provide noticeably cool air. Unfortunately, when you stop for a light or slow down to city driving speed, you car instantly fills up with humid air - I mean like being in a swamp!! Almost started raining inside. I went home, took it off and sold it. I'd gather some other opinions before laying out any significant bucks for one......or move to Phoenix.
in general, if swamp coolers are used in homes and businessesin your area, you should be in luck. here in colorado, it's generally dry, they work good here, in minnesota, forgetaboutit. in canadia, it's GOTTA be a show prop, right?
I live in Alberta. Canadian desert. A swamp cooler would be ideal for the 2 weeks a year we see 95+º temperatures here. I would rather shell out too much money for a swamp cooler than too much money for a Vintage Air air conditioning kit. I'd sort of like to stick to traditional and there's nothing traditional about an A/C pump or condensor in a Model A hehe say Boone, wanna trade for some nerf bars?
Here's my new blog, expect lots of new info and posts in the coming weeks. http://vintageswampcooler.blogspot.com/
Reviving a 6 year old thread and your first post? Oh boy! You need to read the form rules and make a proper intro least you be thrown into a boiling pan of Pennzoil and lost in Haides!
