Always thought this was a kick*** car. It's wonderfully obnoxious! Wish I had it in my driveway to piss-off my neighbors. At least for a little while
Bump. And a free tote bag to the next contributor (I'm hoping this fund raiser is such a success that we can raise a little more to send ME there, too - I'd LOVE to run the PPE)!
I love that car but, I love the motor twice as much. Congrats on the partial p*** and burnout. I cannot really comment on it not p***ing tech because I do not know any details. As someone recently said here, safety tech is there for a good reason. A car can Look scary and still be safe if it is built right. I love drag racing and do not wish to see anyone get hurt of killed. I also do not wish to see anyones car get damaged either. Don't be naive or stupid about safety, there are many valid reasons why the rules are there. I own a front motor Top Fuel car and have to spend a fortune each year just for recertfying so much stuff but, there is a reason for it. If Marky and Axle should go anywhere, they should get their ****s to my 2 events at Speedworld each early April. Here in Phoenix. Not 1 but 2 events in the same weekend that that car would fit in perfectly. 1.You guys know you can get here for almost nothing. 2.You know Saturdays event is the largest annual Pontiac event in the western US. 3. You know my event have gotten national magazine coverage each year since 2003. 4. Then The Nostalgic Show and GO! is the following day on Sunday. AND, you can drive home and get back to your place Sunday evening. coming back in 2010 to Speedworld! Saturday- 12th annual Pontiac Heaven Sunday- 8th annual Nostalgic Show & Go! HMMMMMMM
PPE - Autoclub Raceway 13.92 @ 73 MPH (and not even getting on it!) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bXFwpY-YsHE .</EMBED>
Marky bring it to ardmore ok sep fifth and you can run as many times as you want! And re match gizzle and all the scorpions!!
never know man, those guys are pretty cool. and the guy from Shifters that runs their myspace is pretty cool too, i've talked to him before. maybe he can see what he can do, or one of the Shifters that posts on here alot. Maybe Marky can set something up where he sets up a date and location, brings the car out and charges 50 bucks or 100 bucks or whatever. like they do with the cackle cars sometimes.... it's like $150 to sit in one and fire it up for a couple seconds. That would definitly help him do a fundraiser to take the car out to other tracks and fund any little stuff he might need for the car to be able to run it. Could be a good idea..... i'm sure alot of people would pay to get a ride in that bad*** car!
Definitely, i would help him wrench on the beast for free, anything to get it out and about. A car like that deserves to be driven to its fullest extent.
I agree! Marky created a legendary icon (whether he knew it at the time or not). He deserves to be able to get it out there as much as possible. He came up with it, put in the funding and wrench time (with help from Axle & other Shifters). And he wants to actually run the thing! Most cars like this would become show only once (if) they acheive such a status as this thing has. I'd love to see him get to run it all out all the time. But like alot of people has said on here about the "safety" issue goes. I don't think it's neccesarily "unsafe" but may not be all up to "specs" as far as what NHRA requires you to have for "just incase". I don't know exactly what all they are wanting done to it. Last i heard it meets and exceeds min. wheelbase requirements. It's got a cage so if it's to spec then what else..... maybe a 'chute since it's only got rear brakes and is capable of going really fast. then your basics..... properly secured safety harness, helmet, firesuit, extinguisher, etc. I know that the vision thing COULD be a gripe for them but..... i've seen alot worse (but then again, that was back in the day). If they want too much safety **** on it then like others said previously it's not worth jepordizing the look and style of the car and it's whole concept of build. Like some of the old fuel altereds that are out running again...... it's cool as hell to see them out racing and going all out but there's a drawback to it also. well maybe not to some but i know speaking for myself that i love seeing "Pure Hell". "The Winged Express", "Rat Trap", "Pure Heaven II" etc. out there racing again but i don't like the updates done to them to make them able to p*** tech and safety regs. Various examples i have seen are: Rear Beadlocks Blower Restraints Lowered Frontends (on some) and i think i have even seen some go as far as having blower blankets and engine diapers on them. To me all those new style "fuel altereds" or so they call them ****! All long and low-slung and all new style wheels and engine parts and stuff on them. With the current tech and safety rules they have the vintage altereds not quite as bad as those new ones but somewhat deviated from what they once were. I would hate to see Marky have to do any such **** the the PPE just to be able to run it at sanctioned events. It wouldn't be worth it at all and would ruin a bad *** car. ok, down off my soapbox for now lol .02
