Very cool and speedy build. The truck is really coming together nicely. You really have a handle on how to do things right. Keep the progress coming.

I like what I see, have you fish plated the kickup? Just wondering as with the hugh kick you might get a pretty big stress point there thats all.

I haven't decided yet , I've been going back and forth. I'm going to x out between the rear frame rails with 1-5/8 DOM. Then I going to tie that into the main crossmember. Also the cage will have to tie in from the main hoop to the rear frame rails. I would think this should support everything but I'm not a chassis builder.

Thats good to hear, as I get the feeling that you might end up on the back wheels only a few times, so you would want to make sure there's enough strength when it hits the deck. looks super tough.

I thought you wre nuts to off the coupe to build a truck but I take back my thoughts. As a yankee would say Wicket Baaaaddddd!

Do the 582 with the blower, I need someone to play with next year, Hopefully by then I will be dialed in.... :)

I think everyone thought I was nuts to sell the coupe. I'm farther along with the truck in 8 months then I was in 2 years with the coupe. We'll see what happens with the 582. Even if I run a single 4 barrell I don't think it'll be a too big of a slouch. You're on for a match race but hopefully you won't be too embarrassed getting beat my old pickup.:)

Man, that thing sure looks bad! (as in good!) Kinda sad to see that it's going to be auto, but it'll be a helluva lot of fun, regardless. Can't wait to hear it scream down the strip.

This is the way to build a hot rod, I love it

  19. Great proportions - its perfect. I hope you are in good with the local cops or you will be getting into plenty of trouble with that. I keep contemplating putting a serious motor in something but know it'll just get me arrested, lose my license, etc.

Since this got bumped back to the top I figured I'll do a small update.

I got the 1-5/8 DOM fitted and tacked in for the rear frame support.

I'm finished with the rear back brace and shock mounts. I added a piece of 1-1/4 DOM to brace the 4 link brackets and also 3/4 DOM to brace the shock mounts. I have to finish welding the gusset on the bottom then it's off to get the ends welded on and measured for axles. One step closer to being a roller.

I also got my x-member and driveshaft loop tacked in. I got a lot of finish welding to do. That's it for now. I'm taking a 5 day break, headed to Cabo tommorrow. Thanks again for all the positive comments.

Damn now THAT'S an x-member! This thing looks so bad ass, kind of the direction I want the one my dad and I are building to head in. Maybe a little less motor lol... What size are the rear tires and who made them? Looks killer, say hi to my inlaws while you're in cabo haha....

Yeah I know it's probably overkill but a little extra wieght shouldn't hurt me. The slicks are radir 10.00 x 15. When i go to the track I'll run a modern wrinkle wall. How far are you guys on your truck?
