Scrounger Chris....Hot Rod Junkie from New Zealand.

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Kiwi Kev, Jul 1, 2009.

  1. Meet Chris Piaggi, founding member or the Scroungers car club and hopeless hot rod addict. Chris is a die hard Ford man. I was looking through some pictures from my NZ trip I took over a year ago and thought you guys might enjoy a look around Chris's shop to see some of the junk that has ac***ulated...........

  4. Cool post Kev
Chris is one hell of a guy - real genuine no bull **** bloke.
His collection of stuff is unreal and if there were ever away to describe an absolutely addicted hot rodder it would be Chris.
His knowledge on old Ford stuff and hot rod history is equally impressive.

Chris sure did a great job re-directing the carbies from an angled intake to parallel with the crank on this Wade RO34 blower. Here's what they look like stock:-

  11. Chris lived in California for several years in the 80's and worked for Dean Moon.

  12. Now for the cars.......

Here is a T Chris and friend and fellow Scrounger founding member John Pavlovich (far left) built back in the late 80's. You can bet it stood out in a crowd back then and still does.

Here is the blown flathead altered that John and Chris raced. It hasn't been raced for several years due to.... well not all the parts in the engine are not in one piece any more. The street car was the tow vehicle at the drags.

  15. their T has always been a shining light in the sea of common...then, now, and future

  16. Chris built this 38 coupe into a street/strip machine with FE power and 4 spd. I used to own this car 29 years ago as rolling shell and chopped it when I was learning the art of metaworkin.....OK, bondo spreading! I had a blast driving it on my trip.

The day Chris bought the coupe from me, I was heading to the States.

Here is his roadster pick up. No repro parts on this one.....

  17. Chris bought this 57 Ford about 3-4 years ago in Pasadena. It had been sitting behind Blairs Speed Shop for about 20 years. Chris shipped it back to NZ and got it running, it's a real solid car!

  27. The Piaggi & Pavlovich T was one of the first rods I saw at the time - 1988 - I was 8 years old and thats what turned me on to nostalgic cars and history.

Here is a model that I am building of that car.
