401 nailhead question

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Cool Whip, Jul 1, 2009.

  1. I am trying to find out if there is a company out there that manufactures gear drives for a 401 nailhead. I have seen a cool rod driving around Hollywood without his side engine covers and hood sporting a real nice sounding setup on his 401. I would love to find out who made the one he has.

I've seen them for sale on ebay, just don't know who makes them. Try Russell Martin at www.nailheadbuick.com or TA Performance at www.TA Performance.com.

Why do you want a gear drive? A good double roller is better. No transfer of harmonics through the valve train and cheaper to boot. Just lose the stock plastic covered ****. T/A sells a good one. Now a fully adjustable belt drive would be awesome.

Read the post Zman..."sporting a real nice sounding setup on his 401."

I could do without the racket personally.

Just to clarify my post, that was what we call a "rhetorical question". :D
Nailheads already sound great, no need for that silly shine.

I checked the nailhead.com site. They sell a new timing cover, did not see a gear drive in their catalog. What about a short chain for those who had their blocks aligned honed/bored and have a sloppy chain? I'll bet a lot of people would buy a shorter chain. (Any sources for these?)

I think it's more a matter of cam center to crank center? With those numbers in hand, I'm sure Crower or Milodon could whip one up?
