This morning was an especially emotional moment for me. My dad is currently experiencing lung failure do to advanced stages of emphasema and must be on oxygen 24/7. Today I was over his place with my roadster that I recently finished he asked for a ride. I said absolutely, as he had not rode in it yet. To my surprise he disconnected his oxygen and walked out the door. It was one of those things where you just bit your tongue ..he wanted to do it ..so we just let him.

So we hopped in and gave it some hell this morning..I'm sure it made his day..and I know it made mine...here are a few pics that mom took of us. It was really a nice moment. :)

Looks like it was a great time for both of you. My prayers are with you and your father.

  7. You are the MAN! I lost my Dad in 1978,at a time when we were settling our differences and accepting each other. Ain't ashamed to say that there's a tear(or two,or three) in my eyes as I type this. Damn,I miss him now;didn't realize what I had then. Kudos to you,and good luck to your Dad. -Al K

That really is pretty touching. Just don't tell his doctor. They frown on those types of things.

Only professionally, of course. Doctors love to know that their patients are alive and taking advantage of it. The best to both of you, and I hope you had a great ride!

Great story, know your father enjoyed the ride!

Miss my Dad every time I do something with cars. When my 26 year old son said he wanted to build a hotrod with me, I considered it one of the best days of my life. Look forward to finishing up ours and riding together. Hope I get another 20 years or so before it becomes his to share with his kid.

That is what it is all about right there fellas...making memories.

I lost my Dad to Cancer in 1992. Still have many memories of rides with him in the old cars. I will cherish them the rest of my life.

Thanks so much for sharing and posting photos and prayers to your Dad on good health and peace.

  24. Any time you want to tell your dad you love him but can,t find the courage because it seems unmanly just do it.I wish my dad was still around so I could.....

  25. Good on you... I know exactly what you were thinking as I often thought of what I had to do in case of an emergency!!!!!

I gave my parents rides all the time!!!

Unfortunately I didn't get this car roadworthy before my Dad p***ed away in 2006... but Here's a picture of my Mom in the Roadster as we were about to head to the airport to look at a couple of B-17 Bombers!

My Mom p***ed away a couple of months after this shot and everybody told me that My folks would beam every time I took them for a ride and would brag to their friends how exciting the cars I built were!!!!

I incorporated a few personal items of my folks onto my car and everytime I drive the car I know that they are riding with me...!

That's way cool man. Thanks for sharing. In a similar situation here with my mom. Me and my dad are building a car to do the very same thing. Nothing I'd rather see than my mom and dad cruising off into the sunset once we finish our ride. Cherish the moment. Thoughts and prayers go to your dad, hope everything turns out for the better.

When I first looked at your pics I didn't even notice the car, I was looking at you and your dad's faces, father and son, treasured times. I miss me ole Pops so very much, visit your dad as often as you can.
