I could use some suggestions on a seat for this project. There is a 100.00 model A seat close by and looks serviceable. I am open to cheaper solutions too- thanks, Bob

The only cheaper solution is to make the seat yourself out of plywood. Id search for "home made seats", Im sure there is plenty of info.

Picked this up at a swap meet for $30. Don't know what it came out of, but I would guess a small Jap suv, measures 38" across the back which folds down.

I have a 26/27 t coupe now roadster, used a mid 80's chevy p/u seat . I just narrowed it and shortened the back frame. Used a big sharp butcher knife to cut the foam.My cover was shot so I bought a sewing mechine a the pawn shop and made my on cover ,very soft seat and you can flip seat forward to get to your stuff in the trunk.worked good for me!

I used a box bronco rear seat in my 26 T coupe. worked great.

  6. 3rd row minivan/suv seats area good candidate.

if you aren't tied to the idea of a bench you can look for a set of late 80's chrysler (i think) mini van front seats. you strip them and cut the top half of the frame off. they wok pretty well.

Yeah, go to the regular junk yard and just take a tape measure with you. They are like $30, or wait until they have those special deal days.

Some that I have found that could work are jeep rear seats, minivan ceter seats, maybe suzuki samurai rear seats, It all just depends on what you find there..

I found my seat in the area of the junk yard where they have the big trucks and busses. It was out of a handicap shuttle bus and it fits great. I just had to cut the back down like 2 or 3 inches and lean it back so it fit the countour of the body. It even had a good vinyl cover that I was able to use for a while and then use as a pattern.

  10. One of the nicest seats I have seen is the rear bench from a late 80s/early 90s Honda Aerodeck. Adjusts for reach and the back rest is split and adjusts for rake independently. Even came in black pleated leather.

Not sure if you had them in the USA though.

  11. Any pics of the finished product?

  12. Suzuki Samurai back seats fit nicely.

The back bench from the Jeeps are nice and narrow as well. And it really shouldn't be hard to find one of those in any area.

Thanks for all the ideas- the small mini van seats seem to be the most plentiful. They get pulled out and forgotten and the van long sold off.

My '27 coupe had a narrowed vw rear seat. I got it for free, so the price was right.
