  2. Runtz voltage drops on the power feed for the oil , temp and fuel gauges...on the ammeter volts make no difference. also 12 volt ignition coil and starter solenoid

how is your old wiring? after 50 years you may need to replace some or all of it

Positive wire goes from alt to battery side of a 12V starter relay. Regulator gets tossed. The alt regulates the charge so you don't need an external one. Also, if it's a one wire, you don't need an exciter wire from the ignition (that's why they call it a one wire!)

If you are keeping your starter ****on, you need to either replace the switch with a two lead momentary (original grounds to the dash without a wire) or use a relay. One lead goes to the ignition switch and the other goes to starter relay. You need to replace this switch because the original system was set up for a positive ground but new starter relays use a negative ground. If you used the old switch you would be basically tying ground to ground and the relay wouldn't activate.

IF the rest of your wires are in good condition (I'd heed 32-3 Window's advice) you can keep it. The 6V system generally used heavier gauge wires than a modern 12V system.

Also, I'd personally recommend spending a little more on a new coil and dizzy. From everything I've read, the original distributor is notorious for poor timing. I selected a MSD ready-to-run distributor, ignitor coil, and 6a spark box. Not exactly original (nor is an alternator), but puts a lot of fire in my 8BA's belly.

PM me if you have more specific questions!
