I did a search for this but haven't found anything. I am going to paint my first truck. The truck has sun faded paint on it right now. It looks like if I buffed it, it would work to brighten up the paint. My question is can I just sand it and paint it, or do I need to buff it out then sand it? Will it make a difference for the paints ability to stick? I don't like the color and want to change it, otherwise I would just buff it and leave it if it came out ok. Any help would be great.
    Thanks Lee

No need to buff. Use a pro-grade cleaning product to remove any traces of silicone, prior to sanding. A sealing primer is a very good idea to prevent lifting. If you don't have the proper airflow in a booth and proper respiratory equipment, do not do this yourself.

if its sound paint with no flaking or peeling etc...just sand it good and paint

if theres any suspect areas sand those back to bare metal or at least sound paintwork

no need to buff before sanding
