Are you thinking of Brad Masterson's Chopped Fleet?

This car is sweet and simple, one of my favorites.

The Barris books are great but they are out of print and hard to find, expensive when you do and for the most part all the pictures in them have been scanned by Rik and are on his site.

I am a big fan of the 'take bits away' rather than 'bolt loads on' Custom look....A '51 Fleetline is already a great looking car and just 'borrowing' a few bits from it's cousins , ie. the Other GM stuff from that era , can really create a nice looking car..

Heres my mild '50 from about 20 years ago....

Heres the same car from a few years back after I chopped her in '91 or '92 , she was a gunmetal grey with stock caps etc...this picture is after she was given a 'freshen up' after I had sold her on...

Neither version of that car has been messed up with clutter , keep things simple !!

wasn't aware of that for me books give me a different experience than cyberspace via a computer and a monitor. Its also a way to get away from the computer. I work as a computer tech so when I get home I just prefer books and printed materials. Its probably just a personal preference

with that said I did a search on amazon and all 4 volumes are available there for now...

Missysdad1 is dead nuts on the money. If you really want to know what was done in the 50s and 60s, the 25c car mags are the REAL history. I know, many on this board will scoff, and roll their collective noses up at a lot of things contained in those pages, but they are there... preserved for all to see...agree or disagree...like it or not.

I love books have all four and just about every other book about customs I can find. They must have reissued the first two volumes but if you notice on the available last two they are all used and are running between $45-$75 each which is quite a bit for a paper back book.:D

Don't see Fleetlines getting the Hard Top treatment often. This is really nice!

Its not a Barris kustom. No way,no how. The car was built in Idaho.

Repro Barris crests have been made since at least the early 80's.. Kurt McCormick still sells them on Ebay.. Lunatic, your car could be a Barris car for $50 and 4 small drilled holes..

If OO Mack says its not a Barris car, take it as gospel....
