Never seen one like this,,with the cleats on the corners and the Lock like it is,,Thinking maybe old Machinist box ? Seems bigger than most top boxes too.

  2. Is there a model # or date code stamp on it ? I worked for Sears years ago.

Machinists boxes I've seen tend to have more and smaller drawers.
That looks like a common home or line mechanic box to me.

wow...flashback. my dad has the same one. as a little kid in the 70's i dug into it regularly. i remember the drawer pulls and latch vividly and that hammertone finish. i believe he "borrowed" it from my grandfather, since he never buys anything new. i will ask him what more he knows about it. all i know is that it was already well broken in by the time i saw it.

The guys on the garage journal could date that in minutes or less. The tool information on that site is unbelievable. Go to the tool forum section and put up the same post.

This is another one of Ryans master minded sites, there are allot of us over there as well. I am sure you will like it.

I dunno, my toolbox has never thrown me out of the house and/or accused me of having an affair, 'cause I work long hours and am on the phone with my customers and suppliers a lot. Maybe he's better off with the tool box. Maybe that's just me.

  14. Model #'s and a date code were usually on a plate or stamped on the bottom.
