Haven't bothered in 15 years... Depending on the engine it may not need it. For example, Nailheads have high nickle content and relatively low spring pressure, so it's not needed. Depending on what else you are looking at, have the heads ever been redone?

I've used a brand called Octane Supreme made by Kemco in Utah. It's available,or was, by ordering online,a bit expensive though. It's genuine tetraethyl lead not some other ******** like the off the self stuff in parts stores.Put in two onces per gallon of gas and it colors the tailpipe white inside just like nasty lead used to do in the good old days.It also raises the octane a few points if that's what you need.
Does it work?It certainly reduces detonation if your engine has issues with available pump gas.Who knows about exhaust valve life, only time will tell. Some guys say running an engine hard on unleaded with out proper valve seats is a problem, some say not. You be the judge.

Someone gave me about 2 1/2 quarts .I was wondering wether to trash it. I have a couple of high compression motors 10.5 to one. Both 69 motors .Never of used it. They run great with 93 octane.

    Hey Car Crazy John...

    Since you have it...use it...

Don't waste it by throwing it away!!!

I have some basic information on the HAMB-o-dex http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=363888 about my LEAD additive...

Your Octane requirements for a 10.5:1 engine are between 96 and 99 octane. The best non-oxygenated pump gas that I can get locally is 93 octane. That is a little shy of the recommended requirements of your engines...

You might run just fine on 93 octane...

Your engines were designed to operate on 1969 gasoline. 1969 gasolines were a leaded higher octane gasoline. If you have it why not use it...

Do you ever run your engines hard???

Do you experience any detonation problems, like pinging?
