Vintage Drag Pics from the Ole South

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by NITROFC, Jun 30, 2009.

  1. These pictures are from the old Roanoke Dragstrip- also known as Starkey Dragstrip as it was off Starkey Road- in Roanoke, VA. The pictures are from the Blue Ridge Heritage Archive in Ferrum, VA. The Blue Ridge Ins***ue is run by Roddy Moore, who is a great collector, historian and all-round car guy. Many of these same photographs were featured in an article by Ken Gross in The Rodders Journal #28 ***led, "Blue Ridge Rodding: The Origins of Rodding in Southwestern Virginia."

I worked for the Ins***ute from 1977-1980 as the ***ociate Director. Lots and lots of car culture of all sorts still going on out in the area.
