Sorry for the SPAM ... but I thought that the endeavor the folks at The Rodder's Journal have undertaken was worthwhile enough to post here on the H.A.M.B. ... TRJ for the Troops - Just in time for the 4th of July In celebration of Independence Day The Rodder's Journal is proudly launching "TRJ for the Troops!" This new program is our way to thank the men and women who continue to bravely serve our country and protect our freedom. The Rodder's Journal is working with Books For Soldiers to donate copies of TRJ to our troops who are currently deployed overseas, and we are asking you to help by becoming sponsor of this program. All it takes to be sponsor is a $4.95 donation that will pay for the postage to send a copy of TRJ overseas. With every donation of $4.95 we will send a TRJ back issue to a soldier who has put in a request with Books For Soldiers. Upon your request we can include your name and a brief message with the magazine we send or we can send it anonymously. Your $4.95 donation will cover the exact amount for postage. The Rodder's Journal will not keep any of these funds. We will donate a back issue of TRJ and ship it from our warehouse directly to a soldier stationed in Iraq or Afghanistan. Become a "TRJ for the Troops" sponsor today!<O</O <?xml:namespace prefix = v ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:vml" /><v:stroke joinstyle="miter"></v:stroke><v:formulas><v:f eqn="if lineDrawn pixelLineWidth 0"></v:f><v:f eqn="sum @0 1 0"></v:f><v:f eqn="sum 0 0 @1"></v:f><v:f eqn="prod @2 1 2"></v:f><v:f eqn="prod @3 21600 pixelWidth"></v:f><v:f eqn="prod @3 21600 pixelHeight"></v:f><v:f eqn="sum @0 0 1"></v:f><v:f eqn="prod @6 1 2"></v:f><v:f eqn="prod @7 21600 pixelWidth"></v:f><v:f eqn="sum @8 21600 0"></v:f><v:f eqn="prod @7 21600 pixelHeight"></v:f><v:f eqn="sum @10 21600 0"></v:f></v:formulas><V<v:shapetype id=_x0000_t75 cl***=inlineimg ***le="Stick Out Tongue" stroked="f" filled="f" path="m@4@5l@4@11@9@11@9@5xe" alt="" src="images/smilies/tongue.gif" smilieid="5" border="0" v:shapetype o<><v:shape style="Z-INDEX: 251658240; POSITION: absolute; MARGIN-TOP: 0px; WIDTH: 36pt; HEIGHT: 54.75pt; MARGIN-LEFT: 0px; mso-wrap-distance-left: 0; mso-wrap-distance-top: 0; mso-wrap-distance-right: 0; mso-wrap-distance-bottom: 0; mso-position-horizontal: left; mso-position-horizontal-relative: text; mso-position-vertical-relative: line" id=_x0000_s1026 href="http://roddersjournal.us1.list-manage.com/track/click?u=4a901c25eb18819b5c27d49b7&id=30e8db0e5c&e=ijbvhBm7mq" o:****on="t" o:allowoverlap="f" alt="" type="#_x0000_t75"><v:imagedata src="http://gallery.mailchimp.com/4a901c25eb18819b5c27d49b7/images/bfs2.gif"></v:imagedata><?xml:namespace prefix = w ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com</w:wrap></v:shape> <v:shapetype id=_x0000_t75 cl***=inlineimg ***le="Stick Out Tongue" stroked="f" filled="f" path="m@4@5l@4@11@9@11@9@5xe" alt="" src="images/smilies/tongue.gif" smilieid="5" border="0" v:shapetype o<>Happy Fourth of July, Your friends at The Rodder's Journal All copies of The Rodder's Journal that are mailed through the "TRJ for the Troops"; program will be sent using the USPS flat rate envelope. I am glad to see them willing to do something like this. Hopefully I will scrounge up the extra cash to help send an issue or two.
Great idea! I know for sure it will be appreciated too! I'm just surprised it costs anything to send to operational military personnel via mail! At least its free to send something to a soldier, sailor, airman/woman if they are deployed here in Australia! Doc.
Wow! that is cool for TRJ to do! Doc, our socialized and going broke postal system no longer allows the free mail to our troops. Sad indeed.
Tman, I realize that is just a little light ribbing, but that is because it isn't really socialized anymore and making people pay for actual usage is obviously even less socialized. Is that not a good thing? Well, in this case it is kind of sad, I'll agree, but just part of the pay if you want to play approach. I am sure a good part of that cost might also go to cover costs beyond the control of the US postal system as well. Regardless either way, for this, I'll be happy to help pay and help out a little. Actually, sounds kind of cheap to get a magazine all the way over there and in the hands of somebody waiting to read it. I am surprised it doesn't cost a lot more than that even. Thanks TRJ!
This is a really cool deal, I just signed up for a free magazine. Thanks in advance rodders journal. If anyone wants to send any old magazines to soldiers directly, I am stationed in afghanistan and we really dont get a good selection of magazines at the px. If you PM me I will give you my address and will give the magazines out to my troops, and put some in our break rooms, and the medical station. there are few things more welcome than hearing your name at mail call! as a 'Grenada Era' veteran, i have the utmost respect for the SSAM's who have been deployed again and again to the middle east. i hope this helps you guys cope with being so far away...
I'm all over this. Just sent two copies to the troops. Being a veteran myself, I know how much it means to get gifts from the folks at home who care. Great job TRJ, you guys rule.
