Now that I have chopped the top on my 50f1 I think it would look better with a flat bed on it. What do you think Nothing plain but with a custom look. RUSTY

I'm not trying to come off as a prick by any means,....but i am curious. Your sig line says its gonna be fuel injected with independent front and rear suspension. That sounds like a pretty technical build to half ass it at the end and just put a flat bed on it.

I've always thought flatbeds were cool on old trucks....that were work trucks. If you use it as a truck on a regular basis then yeah....bad ass use a flatbed. With a IRS I imagine you are gonna lose a lot of your hauling payload. It wont be good haul anything but ass.

The bed would look better in my opinion. If the bed you have isnt in good shape theres been a few on here for sale.

My vote....put a bed on it. Flatbeds are for duallys who haul heavy loads.

But I am also a firm build what you want kinda guy.

I hadn't even thought about a flat bed, but those are some sweet looking trucks. More ideas for the hopper....

Hi Guys, I have a 1938 GMC, COE. Up front it has an early 80's one ton Chevy van front suspension with Air Bags. Out back it has a one ton dually Chevy rear end. For the engine & tranny it has a late 70's 350 Chevy V-8, turbo 400 tranny and a Gear vendor overdrive. It has a 17’ flat bed that lifts up hydraulically. Here are a few pics:

I usually don't like flat beds, but some of those are pretty cool!

Here's my '36. Still need to get the cycle fenders on and get the flathead running a little bit cooler.

DRUGASMThis truck is going to be a weekend toy and KRUZZER. The reason I think a flat bed would look better is I took 5'' off the top. With the original bed it looks out of perportion . I though about taking 4'' out of the height of the bed and see what that would look like. Any thoughts would help.
Thanks for the pics. Man some of those would look really good on my truck, The back tires will be almost 15'' wide. So lets see some more pics. Thanks RUSTY

  20. I'm with you DRUGASM, put a bed on it.
Section it if it doesn't look proportional, You will thank us later...

    Just my thought's...

Yeah...i re-read my original post and i didnt mean to come off like that like i said. i just think most of the trucks that are showing up here have a working truck feel to them. with the irs its alot of work to not be able to use it as a truck.

ideally i have always heard what is most pleasing to the eye is the rule of thirds. the body should be 2/3rd of the height and the roof from the body line up should be 1/3. with that in mind maybe take a little outta the bed and fenders to make that work. just an idea.

or put a solid rear axle in it.

your truck, your dreams. found these for ideas on stovebolt.com
