F1 steering box?

getting ready to put the f1 box and column in my 36 ford truck but i am needing to cut in down a bit and was wanting to take it apart(column from steering box)is there any surprize or is this going to self explained?

 

The steering shaft is integral with the box. The mast jacket will come off but not the shaft without taking the box itself apart.

 

I forgot to add, the shaft is part of the worm itself.

 

ok then but i should be able to undo the clamp and slide the outer column off ans make my cut and reweld then with no problems?

 

Yep, I took my column off and cut the shaft to reuse the shaft and mast jacket on a different box.
