If you want to make a change, use a '30 or '31. The car is bitchin.

  4. I love chrome 28/29 grilles - I say keep. On the chopped grille issue, on this car, with the taller windshield I personally think it looks really good - kind of a cartoony look to it that really works. Ditch the mirror for a nice swan neck and it'll look even better.

    Any more pics?

  5. Keep it, but straighten it up - looks like it's falling backwards.

Nice car! keep the grille. Eliminate the mirror and carb scoop! The car has the traditional thing going on with the white walls and the buick drums, eliminate the carb scoop and mirror! Mike

I like the 28-29 Radiator shell, hate the mirror like most everyone else, and must point out that you need to at least install the lower windshield rubber strip to close that big gap under the bottom of the frame.
The photo may be eye-fooling but it makes the radiator look tilted back severly rather than in alignment with firewall, what say?

ME and the GF both agree that we think it would look better with the '32 grill shell painted to match the car since there is no hood. If there was a hood to tie the body color to the front of the car, then stick with the existing chrome unit.

Opinions of course. But the car looks awesome the way it is!

I dig it, but in my opinion i would like it more painted to match and not chrome

Get another 29 grill and paint it the color of your car.

I like them both. Mine has a 32 grille because it came with the car when I bought it. I dont know if I would have changed it or not, but I couldnt see changing it back cause the car looks bitchen with it. So its your ride. Do what appeals to you
Here is a pic of my car next to another one with the A grille

Leave it, get rid of the mirror.

  17. I'd keep it if it were mine, but get rid of the mirror & bloody awful carb scoop.

If you must change it put a Deuce grillshell on it ala Wally Parks Roadster, with the bottom cut off.

As is - it looks like a car from the "little pages" of Rod & Custom - Love the colour scheme

get rid of the scoup - if you can't find one you like - make one - I made mine out of alum soup bowls from Walmart - everyone wanted to know what hotrod shop I got them from - but all s--- aside it's your car - do it your way, you can't please everyone else!

Retain a 28-9 shell but a painted one that is same color as the car.

  22. Yep, carb scoop too - a simple helmet-style air cleaner would work very well with your car's current styling (or a 2-4 intake and 2 helmet-style cleaners). I like the little "lean" to the shell as well. For a guy who is not fond of fenderless, channeled A's, I really like yours! Great color combo with the black chassis (I assume black engine?) and yellow body. Imagine a pinstriped white firewall and white tuck and roll as well - with the black wheels, baldie caps and the already perfect whitewall width . . .

I'm not a fan of deuce grilles on A's.
    Want a 32- buy a 32.

I like it w/ the one you have now. Oh- loose that awful mirror though.:p
