OK what do you think. Factory windshield is already only 9" high. How small is legal and what would be the biggest problem doing this. I guess I should measure chops that I like and go from there but if 8" is what rocks me, man 1" chop doesnt seem worth it.
Take a picture, print, then cut and rearrange until you like it. Or play with it in Photoshop,Illustrator,Paintshop Pro,MS Paint, etc.
With the engine and firewall installed and the body channeled, install the seat in the lowest comfortable position. Sit in it and see how much room there is above your head allowing room for a headliner, afro, tophat, etc. Then you'll know how much it should be chopped. I personally feel more comforable if I can stick my head through the side window opening. I like to think I could climb out "Duke boy style" if I had to. Dave
At 9" with the visor I doubt I could see one as it is. Im going to post a new topic. Show your chops. And see what looks good on what.
Dont be doggin my car!!! Actually with a Hemi, its going to become my sign in name. Or Ill just paint a Bull Mastiff on the side and call it a Whippet on steroids. LOL!
da da da da da da........da da........da da da da da da.........da da! Stand a dollar bill in the middle of the windshield gl*** and that will give you a good idea on height.
I have heard of Kalifornia cops yaers ago actually accepting that as the law and writing tickets as such...
Hello i have a 29 whippet and would like to put a metal top on it can anyone tell me what doner roof i should use TKs.
Somebody needs to photoshop DEVO into Rabid's avatar!!! Honestly, the car looks great as is, but a subtle (even just an inch) chop might work... Take some straight on pics from front, side, and back so that someone can play with it in photoshop.
I can't speak for State of Washington, but here in PA the windshield has to be a minimum of 8" in height, anything shorter is illegal and you won't p*** inspection. No inspection no registration. My 34 has a 8" windshield (4" chop) and traffic lights are out to the question unless you have a light finder or like driving with your head on the window sill.
Whippet The State says 6" vertical unobstructed height minimum (WAC 204-10-024(2)) I've heard that the WSP interprets that the "unobstructed" view needs to be horizontally over the top of hood scoops etc.
