I am looking for some new ideas for a custom dash for my 46 Merc. I think a 40 Ford or 40 Merc dash would look cool with proper customizing, but I would like to see any ideas that have been done

How about a 49-50 ford dash?.You can still find parts for them, vs the 40-41 merc., which the plastic is near impossible to find.

Have you checked out the '51 Ford dash? That's a pretty neat one too, needs to be shortened a bit though

This is the 49-50 Ford Dash I picked up to use in my OT Sled project.

It had to be narrowed about 9 inches to fit.

Took out about an inch or so to the left of the large main gage bezel in order to get the gage centered on the steering column. Also took out about 4" on either side of the speaker grill to get the width right and save the grill and the clock location. So it could be narrowed and still keep the character of the dash intact.
