Ok so I know this is a little OT but I know a lot of you guys will appreciate it. I've wanted this car since I was about 14. It's a Bill Thomas Cheetah. Of course it's not an original but it WAS made by the Bill Thomas authorized company; BTM. You can look 'em up here http://www.billthomascheetah.com/ Of course I could not afford a completed car. The closest I could get was the basic fibergl*** body shell. But I can't tell you how thrilled I am. It's gonna be a while before I can even start on this as I have a '31 Ford coupe to finish in the mean time. But one day........
Haha yeah it's gonna be A LOT of work. I figure if I could wait 16 years to get the body, I can wait another 16 years to drive it. Heck I'll only be 46! LOL
Such cool cars. I remember there was a car just like that in my home town when I was a kid. My dad worked on it a few times. I would just dit and stare at it. So cool!!
Those cars are awesome! Congrats!!!! I'm really worried that it will seriously warp on you during storage though! How do you plan to support it??? You need to set that up carefully...not just put it in a corner somewhere! Best of luck and get your dream moving...
I was gonna comment too about proper storage.....that body will warp under it's own weight and take a set if you're not careful with it. Maybe you can hang it carefully from your rafters? A second thought.......stick to a diet until you have this thing completed because they are known for having a very, very tiny ****(hold on a second) anyway, tiny ****pit that gets really hot.
It has been stored so that none of the body panels can warp or stress. And yeah I've read all about the drivers suffering from heat exhaustion. I hope that's me one day!
Congrats on taking the first step in realizing your dream. They are awesome performers when equipt with a potent drivetrain. Keep us posted on the build when you get to it. Frank
Did anyone check out carsinbarns.com and read about the cheetah that was found under all that hog ****?
Cheetahs are definitely bad***. They look like a funny car's early 60's vette or a stretched out Griffith. If you need to concentrate on the Cheetah I'll take the 31!
I read about the Cheetah that was buried. I believe it was one of the original cars and someone is working on restoring it. I'll try to find the link. I need to finish the model A and have some fun with it. THEN I'll sell it to fund the Cheetah. I'm so proud!!!
