Do You Buy An Alliance Membership For The Discount Or For The Tag Or??

I'm not a discount shopper kinda guy. If I want it & need it- I buy it. Perfect example was seeing Steve at Limeworks Monday (yesterday). We talked about his Hawaii vacation more than my car parts needs! I think I spent near $350.00 or so total & didn't use my discount. Tough times for venders now & I would have bought from him either way.

I am active (not always posting) on several sites & if I stay around & like what I see- I offer my support. It's the right thing to do.

Not enough considering what can be gained from this site....and that's above and beyond the discounts on parts....like good friends and a ton of seasoned knowledge..

I recently became an Alliance Member.
The decision to become one was easy.
As much time I have spent on here,as much as I am learning and the people I've met in person(high five to ChiliPhil and Bad Bob) because of Ryan's "baby",it's the least I could do to support the HAMB.

I paid up to get the discount.... gotta be honest here. I needed another set of Cokers and decided the discount would pay for the alliance membership.

Having made that confession.... It's also nice to contribute... The comments about paying back something for the education we all have gotten from the HAMB are all valid and make sense.

I've taken advantage of the discount a couple of times since, but even if I don't foresee doing that in the future, I'll re-up at the end of the year when mine expires.

I paid up because the HAMB had already made me more than $25 just by paying attention. The discount has paid for it all over again.

I tried to help with auctions before Ryan ever dreamed up the alliance deal,,I bid and one a few and posted several auctions,,,matter of fact I just shipped the winner of of the 50th anniversary Model A ****on today.

I feel like I have gained more than I give back,,so the Alliance is just another way to help,,,do I use the discounts,,you bet I do and in doing so I give my business to the guys that help support the Hamb.

    Win,win for all concerned!

I just recieved my 4th year Alliance tag today,,,I can't deny that I don't like the cool tags!:D HRP

I think I've lost all my tags, but the only thing I collect is tools, really. Maybe I'll put the next one on my sewing machine! :D

I do it to support the HAMB. It's a lot easier than setting up an auction. I've used the discount once or twice since 2006. I kinda feel guilty though because I know profit margins are slim and I want to support hamb vendors as well.

In college my buddy got me in the habit of buying from sponsors of organized racing, so I feel the same way about hamb vendors, they get my support too.

  14. I hung around about a month before I joined. This forum has helped me greatly in my first hot rod build, and continues to. I visit the HAMB at least two to three times per day.

But it takes a lot of work to keep something like this going, and the only way I could help Ryan keep it going is to pay my dues, buy HAMB merchandise, and participate in a positive way.

The discounts are cool, and I have taken advantage of them, but even if they didn't exist, I'd still be a member.......no doubt.

Just renewed mine again, a pleasure to invest in such an informative piece as the HAMB, & when I can, give some advice, even at my age (76), I eagerly await each days "messages" as they appear & can pick & choose at my discretion.
Its only fair that Ryan should start collecting some of the "fruits" of all his labors---Thanks Ryan!!----------Don

I just joined, after lurking for a long time.
For 50 bucks a year, this is the best deal going and needs to be supported.
That's about a buck a week, and for that the H.A.M.B. provides more technical information, inspiration, and funny-*** entertainment than all the rod mags I subscribe to, not to mention the comaradarie with a great bunch of folks.

I wanted to help keep the site going, as there aren't that many forums worth a damn anymore. The tag will look good on whatever future project I end up with that deserves it. I also wanted any help to get going in the right direction once my (sorry to say here) mini truck is done. And the discounts are also good, as helping the other forum members running those places.

If I ever got one it would be more out of guilt than anything else, with all the knowledge and benefits I reap from the hamb. $50 in discounts wouldn't do me any good, and I don't need the tag. I also kinda like the "Old School HAMBer" under my name better anyway

I think I'll start an auction soon...

  21. I just recently joined the HAMB and it is great...old memories...old cars...old photos...Jungle Pam..etc. with all that I decided to become an Alliance member and add my support to the cause...Honestly, I haven't looked at the list of vendors. The ones I do know of are from the threads alone.
When I got my HAMB Plaque, Ryan sent along a really great message as a thank you and I could tell that he meant every word...So, Support of the HAMB First, Discounts.....last, but I will eventually look at the list of vendors...LOL

I'm an Alliance Member just to support Ryan and the HAMB. I haven't used any of the perks yet, but might.

I just joined this site and really dont have a hot rod but I do have a love of old iron.... I myself plan on payin the cash just to help...... Although I have no idea what to do with the tag as all my stuff is 1972 or 1956.. Although I must say I have been greeted with a warm welcome and find myself spending more and more time here...

Cool timing ! I FINALLY coughed up the cash! I wanted to apologize for taking so long and explain myself but figured wtf. Now you've opened the door. Like alot of people,I've lurked for awhile, just kind of observing. I've watched you guys trash people (mostly freaking hilarious !!) I've read the tech stuff and seen some of the most creative and talented people in the world. I've watched you pitch in and help each other, who wouldn't want to be a part of that! Once, I saw the most ridiculous embaressing posts (plural) reguarding JIM STREET and what is the MORAL obligation for him and HIS FREAKING CARS !! Then and only then did I wonder if I wanted to be a part of this. Ultimately, I have the utmost respect for RYAN and what he's done and continues to do and wished to contribute. Haven't really looked into the discounts yet, I'll get to it .

  25. Here is my take. Lets ****in' face it, nothing is for free in life, so if you are taking advice, seek knowledge, have technical questions, enjoy event coverages from all around the world, etc, you should man up and return the favor.
Ryan is working his *** off, it's a full time gig now, for him.
Plus $50 a year will give you ton's of discounts with the Alliance vendors. I probably saved a grand last years. I will continue to support the alliance, for many years to come, and so should everybody.

  26. Its a good place and got me a sweeter deal at coker.

It dawned on me that Ive made a ton of money from exposure on the site and I figured the least I could do was throw the guy 50 bucks a year. I havent bought anything from any vendors yet.

  29. Mostly to help the cause and Ryan. The other stuff is secondary. There's so much good stuff on here.
Also to make it seem like I've been on here longer so my over posting habit doesn't disturb so many people.
