    Denise,

Thanks for responding to this post. I hadn't quite decided on what kind of post I wanted to respond back to them. You answered it just quite fine...

    Hey Everyone,

Sorry I haven't posted for a few days. I'm doing the cruise from Des Moines, Iowa to Columbus, Ohio. We are having a blast as usual and meeting many old and making new friends. This is our 6th year of doing the cruise. Yesterday we went to JR Motorsports in Iowa- They served us breakfast and this is a very nice facility. Look them up because they don't just build racing engines; Dennis Albaugh private collection of cars - This was awesome; Collectively Wine in Amana Colonies - nice time breaking for lunch and wine tasting.

Today we visited Old Dog Street Rod in Maryland Heights, MO - They served us a very nice lunch, gave us a tour of their facility, along with helping a couple cure their vapor lock problem; We finished the day visiting the NAPA Distribution Center in Mount Vernon Illinois - They served us dinner and gave us a tour of their plant. They have a very efficient site because they use bar coding for all incoming and outgoing orders.

Hope everyone is having a good week. See those of you that are attending Columbus this weekend.

    Your LIA Lady,
    Julia

    Hey Everyone,

We arrived with the You Got To Drive Them Group yesterday. So, we are here and ready to meet all you gals and guys. Myself and John plan on trying to make the meet and greet on Saturday. Hope to see as many as you as possible. We'll be in our 1966 Wagon and walking the grounds wearing our LIA Magazine shirts. Stop us and say hello.

    Your LIA Lady,
    Julia

I thought for a little while whether to write this but in the end, I did because I can provide a personal voucher for Julia...

It may not mean much from me, but I assure you Julia is not here with "Spam". I and others encouraged her to sign up for the HAMB and explore the many awesome women here, Denise, Megan and others that have AMAZING stories in the hot rod/custom world, whether they are women or not.

Julia spent time on here exploring and reading, and then finally signed up and spent time posting on other threads, before posting this particular post. I think that is the way you are supposed to do it.

I am sure that Julia has the best interests of the women here with her ideas and will be an ambassador for this sport/lifestyle with any articles and pics that get published as a result of her talking with men or women here.

Knowing Julia personally, I think her and her husband John will quickly become friends with others here as well (She will be at the HAMB meet and greet in Columbus...)

I would agree that her public writings here should stay ON TOPIC with traditional rods and customs and the people surrounding that segment of the hobby. Otherwise, I would love to see some of the women here in Julia's publication or possibly published in other magazines with Julia's help.

And yes, there is a private women's group already formed that Julia is a member of, but I suspect many of us guys have interest, suggestions and thoughts as well.

Personally, I have LOVED reading the stories that Denise has posted and it kills me sometimes when the "girls" are out living the life when I am at home just reading about it on the computer!

If anything, I can assure you that Julia is also out "living the life" and is a friend, not an intruder.

PS: Julia, you do need to add the "Hunnert Car Pileup" on October 10th to your travel list!

    Happy Motoring!

Extremly well written and thought out Bob. Julia is lucky to have you as a friend. I'm very excited to finally have the opportunity to meet her this weekend.

    Bob,

Thank you so much for the very kind words and being such a great friend. I'm new to this HAMB posting so I'm sure I made several mistakes as to what was the right topic to post. I'll also make mistakes with my magazine, which is in its infancy. To John and I that is how you nurture and grow this idea into something that the viewers will respect, utilize, and value the product. If I don't produce something of value to others then I've wasted all my time and effort.

I look forward to meeting all my new found friends from the HAMB in the future. Looking forward to the meet and greet tomorrow. See you all then....

  7. Bob and Denise,
Well spoken, and The "gentleman" of us guys would do anything to help a gal have a smile like "JalopyGal" has on her face behind the wheel of her rod!

Thank you for your support. I enjoy the whole automotive scene as much as the next person. My husband sometimes feel that I've got the bug worse then him. Well, what can I say, I love it...:D
