To each his own dude BUT in my opinion to put the words Rat Rod on your ride is about as gay as a pink Ford with the word Streetrod on it. I mean, why do you have to "advertise" what it is??? I don't understand WHY????

BTW: I think all those vinyl words across the windshields of cars is gay too...along with fake billet holes, stuff animals, I could go on all nite. I am pretty opinionated in my tastes [IMG]

Hey Denise, do you have any pics of the car you had before you got Big Olds? [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]

Well, I don't like the rat rod emblem much either, I went out of my way to take off emblems, so why would I want to put one back on? I wish we as a group could come up with a better term and launch a world-wide marketing plan to replace "rat rod" with what ever term we could come up with. (But I doubt we could all agree on a new term anyway, so oh well...)

I checked out your site, nice car, but PLEASE do not ever put these.... [IMG]
    back on your car!!!!!

And as for Robbie, I do know the guy, he's one of those "tell you exactly how he feels with out any sugar coating at all" kinda guys. He's not a total ***, (I know that's how he comes across online), it's just his personality, but honestly, he's not like that in real life. He's just a "take it or leave it" kinda of guy.

Anyway, welcome, do share some of your mini-rods on the Friday art show. [IMG]

You make money and we can now easily ID people that should be laughed at. Really its a win win for every one. [IMG] [IMG]. Welcome and I hope you stick around.

Sure he is, and a big one at that.

Hey Robbie, or chopt50, or whatever you're name is, go get ****ed. It's ***holes like YOU that are ruining the hobby by acting like pretentious little ****s to everyone who doesn't share your taste or point of view.

Here's an idea, mind your own business, build your own car, and shut the **** up.

  6. Cab - see geemans post below. That Laidoutford guy is him from what someone posted in the cl***ifieds. How he bagged on our club is an issue I dont want to stir up again, but basically saying we came from nowwhere and paid for our cars. or some bs...I dont care, what I care about is somebody getting kicked out then sneaking back in..( I still cant believe I am writing a post to one of my skate heros, someone I used to watch every morning on vids before I went out and skated. thats so cool.) [IMG]

Kristy you seem ok, to me, but that guy is an ***. You say he "tells it like it is" what he said about us is NOT "like it is" its his incorrect opinion. Just because a person thinks its so does not make it a fact..

I agree that he should not come online and get nasty with people, I guess what I ment is more along the lines of "he likes to voice his opinion, agree with it or not". He defentaly has a different persona online then in person. (Funny how computers can do that to you.) My in-person dealings with him have allways been pleasant.

And thanks for saying I'm ok, (I'll take that as a complament), I'm a proud memeber of Thumpers theology- "If you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all." And I ususally keep my opinion to myself inless asked, I like to avoid drama.

Welcome to the HAMB CJ. Sounds like you did back 40 yrs ago what this board is about. The car in my avatar was built in '67, looking at pics now it was definitely a "rat rod". Bald tires, bad steering geometry & all.
Cars are cars, I like em all even, owners can call 'em whatever they want to. My projects range from 27 coupe to 54 PU , thats what I like but I appreciate them all. Don't let negative comments run you off.

    I second that notion:)
I think so-called "rat rods" look pretty cool and actually appreciate them more than some 40-60 thousand dollar trailered billet car for sure, so don't be ashamed of the term... the pic of that coupe in the other rat rod thread i started is a sweet looking ride!

As for an emblem, I may get one to stick on my refrigerator because I think it is funny.

The only reason I am really making a comment here is to tell Mr Coupe De Cab that I saw that movie "stoked" on the Sundance channel the other night. Now I know who he is. We didn't skate down the gravel road in front of my house. I did lake jump on my BMX bike a time or 2 though! My dad wasn't too happy either.

Welcome to Drama Week CJ. [IMG]

Some hard working artist is trying to make an few Honest Dollars,in AMERICA "Land of the Free",
and the Instant Tough Guys want to give him a hard time.Who died and left them in charge?

Maybe if he makes some that say POSER,FASHION VICTIM,DRAMA QUEEN,
or maybe TOUGH GUY WITH A KEYBOARD,
    they would sell.
INTOLLERANT OF PEOPLE WITH DIFFERENT IDEAS would probably be popular.

    Would I buy one? No.
But I would be curious about how they were made.

Trying to force your ideas on someone else makes you no different than the Gold Chainers who think everyones car should cost more than I make in a year.
And "Shame on You" if the tires are not clean enough to eat off. **** THAT ACTION.

Maybe I'll buy one just to PISS OFF the Self Rightious. [IMG]

And the little Dip **** that started this Mess is an absolute DISGRACE to the HAMB and it's members.

You really wanna screw with this *** clown, call him at work, Temecula Rod & Custom (951) 506-4649. Or even better, you can ask for his boss Sal. I'll bet he'd be thrilled to hear from you.

I might as well jump in. I don't like rat rods. I'm a young guy, but I strive to have the nicest car I can.

I see lots of guys in thier 50's with their "rat rods" like they had or wanted when they were younger. I would think that now that they are older and have the money to get what they always wanted, they would want a super nice car and be able to afford it.

Not to mention the real hot rods in the 40's and 50's weren't that old, so even the not as nice and unfinished ones were probably in better shape than most of the rat rods around. I mean, what's with leaving visible patch panels on your car and evenly spaced pop rivets holding them on? Finish it!

WELL, first off, maybe I did come off a little rude with my emails. I do apologize CJ. However, calling my house and threatening me and bothering my family is another. All I did was email you on my thoughts, which I obviously let get out of hand. I still do stick to my beliefs about your emblems, and I tried to make it clear that there were "other" hambers that were making fun of them in dislike. I never tried to represent the HAMB board. Yeah, I have talked **** hear before, and I still DO NOT believe the Throttlers story on the club name. I got emails from people that did not as well.

Basically, I have run my mouth on the HAMB, but you know what, I do not regret it at all. I do not like rat rods, and obviously many others do not, as evidenced by this post.

I think that you, CJ, let this blow out of proportion and get out of hand, and I will stick to my beliefs. Do not bother me or Sal, whom which I have not worked for since June at Temecula Rods and Customs, ever again.

You send a guy an E-mail, calling him a "Homo", because he's marketing a product you don't agree with, and then say HE was the one who let this blow out of proportion? And you don't want HIM to bother You ever again? You had to sneak back on a board because you pissed everyone off, and then you mention the board in a slanderous E-mail - and you are angry? Because you don't like rat rods? And you don't regret anything at all?

Just wanted to make sure I understood where you're coming from.... [IMG]

Hey Mutt...good call...I believe a large number on this board couldn't do anything relating to building a car if their life depended on it....

Now, criticise something...that's easy. All it takes is a keyboard and a lack of good manners.

There are a lot of you that just totally missed what I posted and why I posted it, or maybe not, judging by some of your comments. This kid was way out of line, 1; for projecting his opinion on me when I didn’t ask nor wanted it and 2; using this media the H.A.M.B. website, meaning you the participants to back up his opinion. It’s a total lack of respect and if we condone this type of behavior as a society we’ve got bigger issues to deal with then what we call or hot rods.
It’s really to bad that some people are so closed minded with these works of art and what they may or may not refer to them as, ie; Rat Rod, Hot Rod, Lead Sleds, Shoeboxes, School Boy Rods, Traditional Rods etc. etc. etc.
I’m a very judge mental person, (that’s what my wife says anyway) but when it come to a persons work of art, something they have created with there own two hands like “customizing” a rod or sled, I keep my opinions to myself, as they say “beauty is in the eye of the beholder” and who am I too mess with that.
I’m choosing to drive my car when I’m finished with her, not trailer her, park her in a crowded parking lot, leave her sit out in the rain, and take her to a car show with out spending a week to get her ready for the show, and basically have fun cruising, listing to my doo wop as I motor down the road, unlike a ’57 Chevy I spent 3 hard years restoring in the early ‘80’s, I was scared to death to drive it.
I’m also choosing to leave her in black primer, with the seats covered in Mexican blankets and decked out with skulls, and yes using the terminology “Rat Rod” and that’s my prerogative, so I guess if that makes me a homo or queer then so be it, but please… someone needs to brake it to my wife, I don't think she knows it.
In closing I guess you can’t always teach an old dog new tricks, in my day I was a stone cold hell raiser, but I knew that, I spoke when spoken to, I respected other peoples privacy, and if I didn’t have something positive or nice to say I kept my mouth shut.
    I’m done.
