    Ryan,
I appreciate your efforts to include us in the thought process about the changes. While you are thinking remember the cliche:
    "Less is more"
If you decide to divide up the forum, use FEWER forums like you suggested. Those sites which have bunches of forums for every little group have less to offer. I believe if you keep it to the Hot Rod Magazine format you suggested you will be successful.

That's my nickle's worth. Anybody else think the same way?

I haven't read all the responses to this yet, so apologies if this has already been mentioned.

Can you set up a viewing option under our profiles so that we can see all of the categories under "The HAMB" section together (like now), or see each category separately if you prefer that.

Replies could automatically go the the same category as the original post, so the only difference when posting is that you would need to pick the category you want the post to go into.

If that sounds like too much work, then just ignore me!

Im really bad at analogies, so here it goes!

The HAMB is like an open air market. I can be over at the counterfeit bags and fake Bic shavers while Barnett or Sandman is over by that lady that sells the concrete burros and jaguars. Eventually I'll run into my buddy and we'll start talkin. A divided HAMB would be like a Simons owned mall. Barnett and I could be at the mall at the same time ( me at the record shop and Barnett at Victoria's Secret) and Im never even gonna know that Barnett was there.

Don't take my raspas away man!

    Just my opinion...

I think the plan makes sense.

I love the 'Feature cars' idea. For example, I would have liked to be able to see Lil' Mike's build-up under one area of the HAMB with separate 'chapters' as the work progressed. That was a great series of threads, but there is no way to easily go back and read it.

The plan still keeps things simple. My favorite Pontiac board, Performance Years, has about 40 sections. I only read 3-4, and never go to "the lobby", where people hang out and bs. If you break it down too much, people will ignore the subject that don't directly interest them. I'm sure I miss some good conversations over at PY.

The posts with the most views by far are the picture ones. Add a category for project cars, but add the feature of others being able to post. There are several on here that interested me, and I would like to see follow ups or bug the owners about their progress. But I am sure the original posters feel it's just an ego stroke to keep posting details. No, that's the part most of us like. You would need some sort of rating system to allow dropping some, though. The 16 year old doing a '50 Mopar with angle iron crossmembers is prouder of his efforts than the pro doing a Ridler contender, but if there are no checks we will all be going for our 15 minutes of fame.

I like the new categories. searching would surely become a lot easier, and also just reading for fun. sometimes I feel like reading some hardcore tech, and sometimes I feel like just looking at some pics.

If it ain't broke, there's a damn good reason!

Don't fuck up a good thing!!!

    Please?

I quit trying to negotiate the old Farts club, too many doors to go through haven't posted there since it got categorized.

Signed up for another board, "The Garage", haven't posted there yet... too much bother to "learn" it.

I am pretty new here, but like it the way it is...but what matters more to me is the people who contribute and not how it is organized....but I would be fine with a trial period....hard to know until we have seen the choices.

and....thanks for a great job on this!!!

A working index of the Technical information that has already been posted on this forum would make this forum the most valuable on the entire internet.
