sometimes i lose faith in the human race

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by DONUT!, Jul 9, 2009.

  1. so yesterday i was driving my 53 and i ended up breaking 4 of the 5 lugs on my front p***enger wheel because of the tow on my car. so i pull over and park my car i figure this is a nice country road in Sapulpa OK and it will be fine. i had my wife come get me and take me to my work and then after i went and got my trailer and went back to pick up my car, i pull up and notice my tag looks kinda weird as i got closer i find the intire back of my car beat in. looks like they tried to pry open the trunk wich makes no since because they did nothing to the front or even try to get inside so in a nut shell they just wanted to distroy something for no reason.
i tell myself its only a car but at the same time it just kinda ****s that someone would do that.
oh well i guess im gonna get a new trunk lid
good thing i didnt get around to painting it last weekend like i had planned
anyway i just needed to vent

  2. Dude that ****s! Don't lose faith, there are still tons of good people out there, just look at all the good folks in the hot rod community. I figure it was some mislead kid or a meth head looking for something to hock.

If you can't find a decklid let me know. There is a salvage in Claremore that should have a decent one.

Sadly there are a few bad apples pretty much everywhere that can ruin it for everybody.

But, also, how bad was your alignment that you broke 4 or 5 studs off on a wheel? Man, you got to fix that kind of **** before you drive it around. The tire must have been smoking like a coal plant.

  5. I'm not certain, but from my past experiences, I would say the lug nuts backed off on the car. It's happened to me before. It's a good rule of thumb to check your lug nuts periodically.

That ****s sorry to hear about that. Would make me want to set in the field with my rifle and hunt for boar and catch someone trying to steal my car. I would be forced to protect my property

  7. My guess is they were over tightened. Someone use an impact on them?

  8. thanks guys
i was actually on my way to the tire shop to do the alignment haha

and jake you do have a point there are alot of good people out there still and it does make me happy that some people still care

Could you just take one lug nut from the other 3 wheels and put them on the bad wheel? Just to get home? Hmmmmmmmmm

usually the studs shear off, so no nuts will go on. It also wallows out the wheel holes, ruining the wheel. Happens on 4x4's quite a lot, so yes, check them often.

Bullet holes, yep someone shot up my '66 Bronco while it sat up at the cabin....never got a chance to restore it.

Back in 1962 my '54 ford quit on me here in M***achusetts fifty miles from home, I drifted off the highway and left it there for a week.... came back and me and dad towed it back home, had to put in a rebuilt engine (no oil, ha ha)...
Car was still there, no damage, etc....
But that was almost half century ago, I guess times (and people) change....
Now I would have to have it towed out the same day !

My wife and I are both proficient with the 1911 .45 cal platform. That is as traditional as it gets. In the event of a breakdown she takes hers on the ride to town, I keep mine while waiting at the car. John Moses Browning is at least a cool as Henry Ford!

  27. Look at the bright side. Anyone this stupid to try so hard to pry open your deck lid and fail is probably going to get shot sooner or later pulling it on someone else.

They where most likely looking for audio equipment. Its easy to steal and even easier to sell for a quick buck.
