got bored after i got off work tonight so i grabed the john deer gator equipped with a winch and headed out to see if i could free anything up ! started to tug the pickup cab but i need to do some diggin it was coming free but i didnt want to bend anything up , since it was on its roof the bottom of the truck is amazingly good ! between havin shorts on and there being a ton of itch weed ,and the mosquitoes helping themselves to a couple pints of blood i didnt acomplish much ! i plan on taking the loader tractor and several tools and a shovel next time ! pulled the dipstick on the merc and it still had oil in it , and with having the hood on nhopefully the crank is good ! will post updates when i get the stuff out

  4. With the mercury style carb the rain might not have got in the engine. Also the mercurys commonly has the rare one piece steel bellhousings. Cool find OldWolf:cool:

I dunno, have you seen the car on here one guy is building, the p***enger side of the car is GONE, completely rusted away. There was also a thread awhile back where a fellow was bringing a merc back to life that was nasty bad. Get it home, then post some pics, you might be suprised.:D

Dude there is SOOOOOOOOO much saveable metal on that merc. Get the dash, fenders door. rear bumper, taillights. push guards and the motor is rebuildable if it aint cracked, even if it's siezed.

Maybe not today, but it may haunt later if you leave it. Pick it clean, haul it all off, HAMBers always need merc patch panels.

  16. I could be interested in the dash unless it's super rusted. I'd scavenge the whole car if you have the room to store the parts.

  17. Did you get the wagon? Someone already asked about it, but if he doesn't want it I do. Dean

Check that 41-47 1st Chevy truck grille carefully. It may be one of the very rare stainless steel barred grilles rather than chrome-plated. Big bucks there.

That Merc grill shell is virtually worthless, maaybbe $80 or so. The one paulie boy is thinking of is the '49-50, which would yield a few hundred dollars easy in comparison. There are a slew of parts that could be sold for coin off there.

try listing the whole car for sale before you cut it up & sell pieces. Like a few guys have said already, there have been much worse cars saved in the last few years & a merc is a pretty desirable car. I bet it would bring more $$ than you would think in one piece. probably have guys fighting over it.

Get the job done before the deer ticks come out!

  25. I would part that Merc out for sure... drag the whole thing home and soak all the bolts.
