For those of you who follow my threads you know I like to take pictures and share them with everyone here. My father and I have been working on this 1950 Chevy 5 Window truck since before Christimas last year and today was the first time we were able to take it around the block and actually stop it. Stay tuned for the whole thread with this trucks story. Heres a couple of shots, I was too excited to not share with my brothers in internal combustion. Long ways from how its been......see below Thanks and like I said,....stay tuned. I have a bunch of pictures and a good story on this old work horse.
Sweet old truck. Thanks for sharing. Not that you asked, but I vote get it running well and mostly leave it as is. I like the color and rear bumper, etc. Looks like it has some nice true old character.
Funny you should say that....when dad got the truck i brought over every magazine i had and showed him a bunch of trucks on here and he made the "digital guages" face. the "digital guages" face is an inside joke in our club...a fella we know who doesnt quite or didnt at the time time understand the traditional thing said to Bennie,..." Cool car,...you gonna put digital guages in it?" Bennie made a face like most of you would and just shook his head no. So the plan is to polish out the paint and maybe put a chrome grill and bumper on it but leave it the way it is for awhile....all that info will be in the master thread soon to follow. thanks for the response.
Way cool Dru! Wish i coulda been there for the first spin. Your dad looks stoked! That's what it's all about brother.
Nice project. It is great when families share common interests. My father helped me install a 4-speed in my 66 Chevelle when I was 16.
Here is a pic of my 15 year old learning to shift the 5 speed he helped install We put the engine in together when he was 12 The father/kid thing is the best part of hotroddin'
Great truck Dru, some dads are pretty cool, huh? Just remember all those hoodlums from the '50s and the gear head hippies from the '60s are the grandpas of today. It's amazing how many of these trucks I see every day around the Valley that are still doing the job they were built for, when I had my '51 it needed a solenoid, I went to Del's they had one on the shelf! they said there are still a lot of these old original trucks around still being used as trucks. Congrats to you and your Dad...
thanks,...Dels had all the clutch stuff on the shelf for my 49. We need to do the clutch in this truck, too. Even in granny low it barely creeped up the driveway.
